Georgios Samaras

  1. Absolutely loved Sammy. Such a good guy and when he was on his game he was unplayable. The 2-0 hun game at Ibrox was some performance from the big man.

  3. Happy Birthday Georgios. Great Guy on and off the park. Loved him!

6 good years in green and white. Get him over for a half time draw!

I'm sure we'll see him in a future charity game.

  7. Thanks for sharing that. Brilliant, loved the music with it too.

  8. Lol so true. He literally went from garbage to world class . Loved him so much. I remember when we had injuries and had to stick him up front alone away to the huns, and he turned it on and ripped them apart single handed, and jumped up the crowd to celebrate

Was a Roller Coaster ride with the Guy! Still a player to be remembered

  11. Is he still a technical director at his hometown club in Crete?

  12. Celtic should always have a Greek attacker in the squad - we hate the huns.

  14. Sammy Sunday was one of the great football days. We had nobody fit, I'm sure Mulgrew started left wing, Kayal made possibly his debut. And Samara's as a loan striker was just incredible.
Won "Goal's Best Player in the World" award that weekend.

Although if he'd scored that penalty against Inverness, we had won 10iar :fear::fear:

Sammy had been on loan when he first came to Celtic in Jan 2008 but was signed perm in summer 2008. Sammy Sunday was in 2011. Paddy McCourt played LW, Forrest on the right, Mulgrew played in the middle with Ledley & Kayal, in more like a 4-1-4-1 or a 4-5-1.

Kayal had joined in summer 2010 and had been playing semi-regularly throughout the first half of the season. Noone was on debut. It was hoped Ljundberg would, but he was ill. Brown was suspended, Ki Sung Yueng was also out while Hooper, Stokes, Kapo and Murphy were all out which meant Sammy having to play through the middle that day, when he had mostly been playing wide that season.

  17. Mind the full Kapo thing, sure it was one/two games he played, he played well, then we got shot of him and refused to pay him. Weird all round.

  19. Every time I think of big Sammy I think of Samaras Sunday against the huns at ibrox. I had a * awesome day that day. I was blootered pished but it was one of those days where 100 things went right at once. Just in all kinds of ways. And Samaras was immense that day.

I think that was partly the frustration with Samaras. He could have games like that when he was unstoppable. But then he could also just as easily have games where it looked like he didn't do much. It was like he was dangling his potential in front of us but he could never reach it consistently
