4th highest European goalscorer in our history. * his domestic form, that is the sort of player we are looking for.

You would need to have rocks in your head to not want Sammy back.

Bring him back and this will officially be the worst transfer window since Lou Macari's time. Don't ever want to see Samaras in a Celtic strip again. Infuriating player.

So you would rather go in the EL with 2 recognised strikers, one of whom looks like he can't kick his own * so far, rather than bring Sammy back on a low risk deal for the season?

Seems like you are cutting your nose off to spite your face.

He was an infuriating player mate I agree but more often than not he done the business when it mattered. Goals against the dead club and goals in Europe are testimony to that.

Well I would dispute that claim for a start. He let the team down more often than he produced what he was capable of. The only thing Samaras really brought to the team in Europe was an ability to hold the ball up by going on aimless runs down the wing. Do we need someone to hold the ball up for us in Europe? Yes we do. But I wouldn't put up with a whole season of his half arsed efforts in domestic games just to have him hold the ball up in a few European matches. If that's cutting off my nose to spite my face then so be it. I actually hated him as a player to end up with, he was that frustrating to watch.

Samaras isn't even a striker anyway. He played his best football for us when we stopped playing him up front. Why did we stop playing him up front? Because he was a consistent disappointment in that position and he didn't score nearly enough goals.

Yes we need a striker. Desperately. Signing a guy who plays well 2-3 games out of every ten he plays, who isn't a regular goalscorer and who isn't even a natural fit for the position is not however the answer to our problems.

He should never have been let go in the first place. Don't think he'll be back though.

Loved him when he signed for us, that goal against Killie in the yellow strip is always in my head.
Loved to hate him half way through his time here, but grew to understand why and then I just loved the big sexy *.

Not seen him around the club lately, when was last time he was here? What's he up to these days?

Usually against teams who open up and try to play football against us.
Where guys like Sammy have the space to run in to and get a good counter going.

Sinclair suffers from a similar issue (as did Roberts to an extent and various members of our attack).
Once teams "suss" them out, they just park the bus and kill any space that players like Sammy and Sinclair want to run in to and get up to speed in.

For me, we would do well to allow opponents more time on the ball - instead of trying to impressive with 80%+ possession, let it be a bit closer, with a decent backline we will be confident to shut out the opponent's while allowing space for guys to run in to.

It's why Sammy was so great in Europe, very rarely they parked the bus against us, allowing Samara's the space.
