It's over, he is off. I honestly can't believe that he will leave Celtic. Surely the biggest enigma in Celtic during this 126 years.

I once used to hate him, I used to shout abuse at him for every mistake he made. I thought that he was lazy, clumsy donkey and a soulless coward. He was either injured or just lost on the pitch. He wouldn't chase down players, he wouldn't try to run at GK when GK had the ball, he wouldn't attack a header because he might injure his pretty face. I was tired of his *, I wanted him gone.

But then came 02.01.2011. the day when he became one of my favorite Celts ever. I was sure that we will lose that game. Some of our main players were injured, there was only Samaras who could play up front. I was in disbelief after that game. He just scored two goals against Huns at Ibrox!!! Before that game people wanted him gone, no one even thought about extending his contract. He was alone. Nobody believed in him anymore. And then he raised like a phoenix. That day he won us over.

Lennon is the man who brought him back to life. He always encouraged him, he kicked him in his * when it was needed to be done, and he found him a new position on the pitch. Samaras responded with five goals in 12/13 CL campaign. From a lost donkey to a European talisman, who would've thought.

This season wasn't his best. Poor CL campaign affected on everybody at the club. People again wanted him gone. It's tough when you become a scapegoat at Celtic, that's a pressure you'll never be able to remove from your shoulders. No matter how good you are, when you make a mistake, people want you hanged. This time I just thought that he need a new challenge, so I thought that he should leave. He was benched when negotiations about his new contract stagnated. Lennon then gave him a couple of run outs, so he could be fit for WC. Yesterday he played his final game for Celtic. He won a penalty and scored his last goal. I knew that he will score, I was 100% sure. When he scored, I shed a tear or two because I knew that I will never see his crazy driblings, his mazy runs, his quickness, his beard and his beautiful long hair at Celtic again.

He could left long ago, he also could went to papers and complain about contract negotiations, but that's not Samaras. Samaras is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. He is maybe quiet and a bit shy, but he is loyal and he will always love Celtic. He just isn't a guy who will go mental when he score, or when we win a title. He is also a living proof that guys from abroad can love Celtic as much as Scots or Irish do. Consistency will always haunt him, that's his Achilles heel, but that's Samaras. I wish him all the luck at his new club, and hopefully one day he will return to Celtic as part of the staff.

    Oh Ah Samaras. :shamrock:

As if Sammy would be standing in the street eating crisps. He'd have dusky hand maidens, bedecked in robes, feeding him grapes while he lounges on a throne of gold.

Sammy was a gent, and a Celt at heart. Still disappointed that the board let him go so readily.

Would love it if we would offer him a 6 month contract if the new manager wants him iN his team.

Sammy is a player who has specific strengths and weaknesses this shine through certain styles of play.

Would be really interesting if Ronny wanted him back, cause as far as I know he hasn't signed for anyone. Xxxxx

Offering Sammy a 6 month contract would be really disrespectful I think.

I agree, but he knows Lawwell or Lennon didn't want him, he wouldn't want to be stuck here forever if it didn't work out with the new manager.

It gives him 6 months to decide if he wants to stay with the new manager or move swiftly on. It sound disrespectable on offer, but it would be best for Sammy, it would only hamper 6 months of his careers if worst comes to worst.

Here is another Sammy's interview, there's no translation but let me do that for you, just for the beginning of the interview

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-cidVxmgNw

    Alexios Spyropoulos, (the journalist):
    - Glasgow, a city, your city, you get used of it, it get used of you after 6,5 years, are you sad that you've been leaving Celtic or is there any chance to move to another Scottish team?

    Sammy:
-No way (smile). Yes I'm sad, Celtic is a club that helped me to be a better man and player too, I loved Celtic, I'll always do and I feel that I was loved back. As you said, I have so many things to remember in that 6,5 years such as the trophys, the Champions League matches etc. It's a huge club which has fans in all over the world and to be honest it wasn't easy to leave all these back.

(After that he was asked about Jay and our national team)

Well, still can't realize that George's been leaving. He made us proud there and he's a memorable legend. I'll miss him playing for Celtic, green suits him well.
