To be fair the article does state that is for a substitute role - not someone who wants regular action, more someone who can come on and make a difference.

Will never happen but its nice to see other fans think so highly of him - even if some of us haven't in the past.

 

No chance Samaras is moving to Barcelona. He is a good player but no knock on him he isn't ever going to break into Barcelonas team and he has never struck me as someone inclined to take a big pay packet and happily sit on the bench.

Having said all that though Samaras is just one of a few vital core players we need to get signed on new contracts and the sonner the better.
In Samaras' case it will a big coup if we can get him signed on a new deal. At 28 the next contract Samaras signs will see him playing his peak career years during the contract so hopefully that will be at Celtic.

 

I don't find the link surprising. Barcelona do need something a bit different, hopefully it isn't Samaras.

With the benefit of hindsight, you have to say major kudos to Scarecrow!

 

I will be truly disappointed in this club allows Samaras to leave without much of a fight.

 

Barca sign Samaras? No way. Maybe if he was 20 but he's 28.......Not cut for Barca either in my humble and honest opinion

 

I wouldnt worry because Samaras has stated he truly intends to stay here.

 

If Barca were in for him, he would go to them

But they are not and they never will be so it doesn`t really matter

Larsson was before my time so never realy got a chance to see him play (apart from highlights and match reruns) but is Samaras in his level or no

 

Although I'd like to see Yorgos with the Cl medal around his neck, I don't think Barcelona will sign him. I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves Celtic, but I don't think he will become a Barcelona player. If he was younger, maybe...

 

Jesus no, not even close. Larsson was a genuine world class player, while samaras is a very good player, and key for us he's nowhere near larsson. It will be a long, long time, if ever we see someone of larsson's ability at Celtic, and if there was he'd be gone in a season.

 

Jesus, are we really getting that old that some of the fans here werent part of the Larsson era? Shame you never got to see him mate, it was nothing short of an honour and privelage to watch him for each and every one of the 7 seasons he was here. As far as the comparison goes, I love Sammy to bits, but he isnt even close to the player Larsson was. As good a football brain as you would every likely see. Thats one of Sammy failings as a player and in Larsson it was as good as any player out there. At his prime with us he was easily top 10 striker in the world. Put it this way, look at at all the current best strikers in the world. Falcao, Suarez, RVP, Ibrahimavic etc. We had our very own in Larsson and not a single fan would have swapped him for any of those mentioned, he was that good.
