It's not just based on tonight though.

He is a naturally lazy/relaxed player, and we can't really afford that in Europe particularly as an attacking player. He is best out on the left wing but if Derk is a better winger which I think he will be, then why should Sammy start?

Could always be brought on as a sub.

Regardles as to whether Samaras can play up front himself or not whoever it is has to have some creation behind them,without deliberately having a go at Commons here his problem is always the same he creates mostly for HIMSELF,sometimes rather than even look for a runner he shoots,tonight outwith Commons coming through the centre you have Broony and Ledley who are tapping the ball 4 and 5 yards which is what was said in commentary,how many of these 500 passes are engineering a chance.Look a little deeper for the root of the problem.

Outwit the fact hes the top european goalscorer in the squad aand his performances last year which were'nt just goals his "laziness" did'nt hurt us then,I think the fact every team including Shakter identifying him as the ma their scared of hints at him being integral to the team,take Forrest tonight he was'nt lazy..... but he was poor,Izaguirre was lazy getting back that cost us a goal,Commons can look very lazy at times too especially with decision making.

The problem tonight was very much a team problem and if we're to overcome it in the second leg it'll need to be very much a team effort not hoping Boerrigter is superman or that Samaras plays to the top of his game wile others don't.

Just because he scores doesn't mean he particularly played well. He was fairly anonymous against Spartak, for example, until he scored.

If we had started with a proper winger then the team would have played differently and we might have already have been winning. It's hard to tell until we see change but I'd like to see him dropped for Derk and see how we play.

 He was virtually anonymous in every European game last season, even the games in which he scored. The goals in those games were largely down to his height. And in the Barca game he hadn’t even a clue it hit him.

Obviously not a central striker but his attitude disappointed me tonight, compare him to Shakter's striker and the shift he put in, he was embarrassing.

He is never a Centre-Forward, why Lenny still plays him there is beyond me. But even with him being played there, he looked like he truly couldn't be arsed, as did most of the players, he is a left winger, and should only ever be played there.

Spot on.

He has to be improved upon. We are all moaning at how we play and how boring we are, removing Sammy from the fold could make a huge difference.

Sammy is Sammy, can go from hero to zero in an instant and vice versa. He's never going to change but its not his fault lennon persists on someone with the consistency of (add witty remark because i too * off to make one up)

Some things on this thread is laughable! My * guys, Samaras was a top player since lennon took charge, being such a big threat in the team, in the league and in Europe, ESPECIALLY IN EUROPE!

The guy had one bad game.. Honestly, one back game and your all like "Jesus, this guy is shocking, his whole career has been shocking! Get him tae *." * sake, get a grip. What the * happened to "You'll never walk alone"

Get this utter, utter, UTTER pish to *! Lennon made a bad desision tonight playing Samaras yet again in forward position. When he plays out wide he's an animal and teams hate him running at them. But obviouslly lennon felt Spartak had very tall players in defence so he wanted to play Samaras, which didn't pay off at all.

Next leg celtic will be dominate like tonight, but score goals this time, i can see 3-0 at half time.

As much as it pains me to say it celtic fans can be as fickle as any,bad game guys garbage constant hounding of particular players,and I read on here earlier that Mouyokolo,Van Dijk and balde would be nowhere near any of one supporters teams.Laughable as Balde had nothing to do with tonight other than being made to sit and watch it,Mouyokolo is a european rookie and was thrown into a defensive partnership untested before FOR his 1st european game and in fairness to Van Dijk that was his 1st competitive start also.

These are likely the same people who wanted shot of Larsson after 2 games,wrote off Moravcik when he signed and thought Blinker would be the new Gullit because he had dreadlocks.
