    In the league play him on the wing, he needs space. He doesn't get that upfront in the league.

    On the left in Europe he is devastating, he charges at people and can take on 3 or 4 defenders at a time. Literally any opponent he comes up against is * scared of him, but in the SPL he is static and just stands on the left a few yards infront of the half way line, and always passes back rather than running forwards and diagonally into the box, which is his best skill.

    His laidback style is perfect for Europe where we need someone to hold the ball up, take the pressure off us and take us up the park, but you can't deny in the SPL he is normally as much help as a steel condom.

    Definitely don't punt Sammy. He was our top assister in the league last season, play him on the left and he does it in the league.

    We need him for Europe. He's worth more in Europe for us than he would be with a transfer.

    Some of the stuff being said in here seems ridiculous. Sammy was decent yesterday and he set up a few chances himself. If Goodwin and co weren't throwing their bodies around the six yard box then we'd probably be talking about how great Sammy's build up play was.

    I think Sammys problem in the SPL is that he has too much time on the ball and overthinks it and then f*cks it up. In europe he has not alot of space and tightly marked giving him no time to think so then he does things more simple and natural and that is usually best.

    In my opinion he is lucky to still be here after this long, given the long spells of uselessness he went through. That said, he has come through it and if anyone can't see the contribution he actively makes these days then I call deliberate slating. Some just will never like Sammy. I was never his biggest fan, still not either tbh; but like Forster, for every time I've slated a performance, I'm perfectly willing to give credit where they deserve it. And this season and much of last Samaras deserves a great deal of credit. He's still here, we didn't let him go when he had done nothing to deserve to stay; we are not going to punt him now that he is doing well. Simple as that.

    Also, it's blatantly obvious and has been for years that he is not only better on the wing, but prefers it. For how long did we moan that he drifted wide when started up front? He's a key player for us when played out wide. In Europe he has proved invaluable; just take a look at ILTC's "Celtic Player Stats" thread and see his opponents scored against column. :50:

    Love him to bits these days.....other teams in Europe rate him as well.....I would wager they all see him as our biggest threat....player-wise, set pieces are probably seen as our biggest threat overall.

    Definitely. Not to mention that Sammy is one of our longest serving players now. Celtic Park would just feel... empty without him there
