We desperately need him back for the next Barca game in a fortnight. Who knows what would have happened if he had stayed on the pitch for the second half last night?

I'm not saying we would have won or anything, but he would have been invaluable for us on the counter attack. Forrest has speed in his arsenal, but he lacks the strength that Samaras does. I also believe Sammy is better than Forrest at beating defenders and creating opportunities for the likes of Hooper to pounce on.

Samaras has slowly become our MVP in European games, particularly away from home. He's come so far over the last 2 years!

We really need him back and playing for the remainder of our Group Stage matches.

He has been producing on the big stage time and time again.

:50: Cant believe I am saying this, but I agree with this.

Sammy is known in our house as "The Asal" but we're gonna have to come up with a new moniker after recent displays. HE is now one of the first on the team sheet in Europe and gives us something that no other squad member does. He is irreplaceable in Europe these days.

Credit to Lenny for turing him round during his tenure I feel!

**An Asal is a donkey btw! Sorry**

That will be great news indeed he has the perfect mix of height and speed, along with being good at holding the ball.

    There aren't many 6'4 wingers/strikers that have Sammy's speed

The only way we can win vs Barca is if he plays.

Fingers crossed for his return. :50:

He is our best player ! Always has been. Need him back for the Barca game. Was only ligament damage so he should be back training in 7 - 10 days.

Praying to see him fit for Barca. His aerial prowess will be crucial to get any chances at troubling them.

Samaras is the most talented player in our entire squad so naturally when he is on top of his game, it's harder for our other players to facilitate his decision making process. However, on the whole we can't be going too far wrong when Samaras has scored in 4 back to back away games in the UEFA Champions League/UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

I didn't realise just how much some people hated Sammy not too long ago. Someone posted that 'he's the worst player ever to wear a Celtic shirt'. Others saying that he's a 'waste pf space' and that they don't want him 'within a million miles of Celtic Park'. :smiley-laughing002: Wonder if their opinions of him have changed after the winner in Moscow?

    Agreed,

I have always been a fan of his though, while he has been transformed into a nightmare of a winger for the opposition, I always remember a brief spell he had when he was scoring goals for fun for us only for Greece to ignore a serious injury and ruined his form from then on in and fans really got on his case, even with Brown I've never seen a celtic player hated that much as did when it came to Sammy, I always used to argue back then that it took Skippy a whole season to catch up to Sammy's total even though Skippy was meant to be the goal machine for us.
