Don't know why its such a big deal....

The ball was infront of the spot, Sammy moved it back.... Forster still had a lot to do to make the save.

Couldn't have put him off the much as it was a pretty well taken penalty.

Samaras had every right to get the ball moved back as the ball wasn't on the * penalty spot.

    Well in Sammy! :celt_2:

Who knows what would of happened if he never prolonged the wait, we could be sitting here right now even further behind the scum.

Back page of the daily rangers today saying Palermo are weighing up a 2million move for Samaras....I would be happy with that.

Can't believe people are even debating this, shows you the power the media have. I want our players to fight every single unfair advantage our opposition have over us. Fair play to Sammy and Forster for not letting them.

Good point, I'd forgotten about that. It's not unique as well, McGregor's done that with a few penalties last season and often gone on to save them. But you won't be hearing about that from the hun media, just like you won't be hearing of the appalling gamesmanship from Hearts throughout the game, or the fact that it should never have been a penalty in the first place.
Keepers try to put attackers off all the time at penalties. Why is it so wrong to ask that the ball be put ON the penalty spot (which is there for that very purpose), but it's ok for the goalie to jump up and down, wave his arms about and run along the goal line to try and put off the taker?

Don't want to be a killjoy either but this penalty lost us the league and if Sammy hadn't prolonged the wait we could be sitting six points behind atm.

    Get in there Sammy Bhoy!:celt_2:

Thought Samaras was good in the first half but he did fade a little, at one point he looked like the only person that was going to make anything happen. Pass marks again for me.

Played a vital role in the goal, well done Samaras.

The bit of play he produced to release Hooper for that chance was top class, the way he can bring those high balls down on his chest while jumping is really impressive, hope he keeps this up and gets fitter and fitter which should mean he doesn't tire as much towards the end of games.

First half perfomance was huge from him.

not so much him fading but more that we resorted to a fair amount of high balls to him. What he could do was severely limited by the game we played in the second half. Bar the last fifteen/twenty minutes

Brilliant first half by Sammy. He was ripping the Udinese defense apart. Faded a bit away in the second half (but as someone mentioned, that was probably due to the way we played).

To my eyes, Samaras looked much more greater than even Messi (or anyone else) at 1st half ! ;)
    So brilliant performance !!

    First class last night.

If only we'd kept giving him the same service he was getting first half, we might have won that.

But either way, I'll just restate again what I've said a shedload of times - Sammy is one of the very few players we have who can and will terrorise top European defences.

Next time I hear some eejit say we should sell him, or describe him as "deadwood", I will open a catering-size cannister of whup-* on their ehssssss.

The problem is when he needs to do ig against Caley Thistle. Would happily let him play against Alessandro Nesta but not Ross Tokely :56:
