The Celtic Song so long as Dean Park doesn't sing it.
Yeah, in Italian, we are living on a prayer now, I should have said the whole lot.

Ach well now we know what needs to be done, it was going to come to the last game anyway, £5 Double on Ukraine and Scotland win.

Doesn't really matter tbh, win or lose we'd still have to beat Italy

Not necessarily. If they drew tonight and they drew or lost to ukraine away from home then we would be through regardless of the italy result

    1. we lost more of our good fit players than a small country like us could cope with.
    2. We had to play guys like Fletcher and Maloney who are top players but realy short of match fitness.
    3. Pearson is not up to this level.
    4. The pitch was shocking and meant we couldnt pass quickly. We looked much more dangerous when we went route 1 late on.
    5. All of the above meant we lost the edge that has got us so close.
    6. The Georgians were very good at keeping the ball and also good at falling over if they were pressed hard. They were technically pretty decent.
    7. I think we will stand a chance against Italy if we have our best 11 on the pitch (the Ukraine game one but with Hartley in for Pearson) and they are all match fit.

I agree Keltoi I think as long as Scotland can field a full strength or close to side they are more then capable of beating Italy at Hampden and I for one will be 100% behind Scotland in that one. A bad day for the Celts all round today but Scotland are still in with a very good chance I think.

Did anyone think the ref was *? Should have been a penalty on McFadden, and his overall performance was decidedly dodgy.

We're unbeaten at home and hopefully we don't lose the most important home game of them all. I'd settle for a draw with italy tbh then pray ukraine beat france.

I will be gutted if we don't progress but the pride has been restored in the national team thankfully.

at least we still have a better chance of qualifying than England :icon_mrgreen:

Should have been a penalty, but we deserved to lose. Too many low rate second string players i.e. Pearson (awful, reminded me of Benfica away last season), Fletcher, and Murty. We missed the calming presence of Brown and Hutton and Caldwell. Also missed McClulloch's blood and thunder approach.

Hopefully these guys will be back for the Italy game, but it will be a miracle if we qualify now. here's hoping.

unfortunately for you guys, but I always expected italy and france to make it. how Keltoi said, it's very hard to replace keyplayers for a wee country and france and italy are football nations. their potential is never ending and italy might be a boring team to watch, but as soon as it really matters they will be ready. you have to beat the world champion and I can't really see that

We were absolutely dreadful and deserved nothing from the game. It showed that we really do need our first picks on the pitch.

it basically showed that we have no depth to our squad, it just hurts tho as aftewr such good results it has to resort to this.

looking back maybe we should have pld it more defensive as it was an away tie. i think we got carried away with the hysteria of it all.

if we have a decent side out against italy at home it can happen. they will be under tremendous pressure to win as they are the world champions and everyone will expect it.

we were always the underdogs in this group and i knew that france would finish strong as they have the easier final few games.

It's a three-way fight for two places between France, Scotland and Italy. Scotland will qualify if they beat Italy in their final game, though a draw will be enough for the Scots in the unlikely event that Italy lose their game in hand against the Faroe Islands. If Italy win their game in hand, France have to match Scotland's result to qualify as the Scots would finish above them on head-to-head results if they are level on points.

If France get beat in Ukraine, a draw against Italy would get Scotland through.
