If we sign this lad and Murphy I will end up having a nervous breakdown :38:

What has Boateng got to offer us that we dont have already?

Boateng still has it in his head, just not so much in his legs. Not a bad player, works hard and will do a job for you in the SPL. I wouldn't be too worried about signing him anyway.

What you're saying is that you don't trust our manager teams player judgement?

Wow. A FIFA 2010 reply! You have convinced me. He's *!

We don't have any players who is playing in the same position?
Except if you count Mark Wilson who played in that position against Hearts because N´Guémo wasn't there.

And not to mention his experience. We're lacking for Premier League experience. And that's something Boateng have.

Boateng could end up being the most effective summer signing. We need some dig in the centre of the park and he has that in abundance. I read comments about his legs have gone...what rubbish. He played 30 games for Hull last season and played well. He has another couple of seasons in him and its low risk to celtic

No mate I mean what can this player offer us in terms of attributes that we dont already have? He is tidy on the ball, scores VERY few goals, remind you of Crosas? Except Crosas is a lot younger than him, his experience didn't do Hull any favours last year did it. Hasnt got the legs, if we get Bullard in he will offer us all the experience required and he is a much techincally better player, Boateng will only see this as a nice way to make a few grand before he retires. Maybe you could say the same for Bullard but at least he has the quality. I still dont see what he could bring to the club

He will protect the back line and allow brown/Bullard/Ki whoever plays in our 4-3-3 to get forward

Boateng offers you Bite, and good tackling which crosas doesnt and you have said hes tidy on the ball so what more could you ask for in a defence mid. you can never have enough experience

He won't offer goals but thats not an issue. Neither did Lennon and hes that type of player. Crosas does NOT have the same attributes as Boateng. He has no dig/steel for the fight and like it or not its the spl, not la liga or serie A where we can pass the ball about at will.

    No.
Marc Crosas and Ki is both playmakers. Passers. And Scott Brown is too attacking minded, just like Bullard will be IF he signs.

We need someone who's doing the dirty work. If not George Boateng, then another one who will fill the boots after N'Guémo. And Paul Hartley. Maybe the other french guy... Alfred something.

I understand what your trying to say, 5 years ago I would have loved to have him at Celtic but someone made a comment he had a good season last year, utter rubbish he was terrible last season, his job was to offer bite in the Hull midfield and offer protection to the back 4, every game they conceded goals (cant blame all of this on Boateng of course not) but he was just one of many players who failed to perform when it mattered, if he does sign he will be on massive wages and we can do a lot better than Boateng, I wasnt N'guemos biggest fan but at least he was still young and you knew he was eager to impress, surely he would be a better option than Boateng?

He was consistently good in a very very poor Hull team. He will offer much more bite than Crosas and N'Guemo. He has far greater physical attributes despite his age.

Mate I hope your right, I just dont think he will be a good option but thats just imo, I could be wrong I hope I am. I just think Celtic can do better than giving a has been £20,000 a week

i just dont see this being effective he played 31 games all in last season for hull, but in a team that lost over half the games(16) only winning 5 all season league and cup!!
    hes 34 (35 in september)
playing in a losing team with a losing mentality he hasnt been capped since he was 27-28 yrs old (which should be the peak of a midfielders career) as for the supposed dig!? hull got absolutly battered last season in roughly 10 games resulting in huge defeats including gettin skelped 4-1 by wigan 4-0 by everton 6-1 by liverpool all thewhile boateng was midfield general and captain a player with unrequited dig dosent end up losing this often by these scorelines!! how can you say he played well? how often do you watch hull honestly? or are you just doing your usual of going against the grain to wind people up.
5 yrs ago this would have been a good signing but now i dont think so!!
if we go on and sign him and he is the mercurial player you seem to think he is then i'll eat me hat but i'll leave the condiments in the cupboard for now!!!

no,no not at all your quite right however a captain should lead and try to implement his will on the rest of the team when theyre not playing well and to organise a poor side to defend and at least be hard to break down especially with his game concentrating on the defensive side of things this should have been a standard task for him.
im not saying hes a terrible player but he will have a losing mentality as the last 2 years he spent at hull havent been full of victories and at 34 that is a difficult thing to turn around i dont think he has the time left in his legs to get back to the same player mentally as he was at villa so not for me
