I think he's the best pundit on tv. But I'm not sure he has the voice for commentary.

His analysis is spot on though. I must agree with what he says 99% of the time. And I like how he's played with a lot of the players he is talking about so can give added insight in that respect.

I agree I think he is really good.

I think this is one of my favourite quotes from football this year

"Presenter : Well these are young players Gary, can they not play 3 games a week? Gary : It's not that they 'can't' play 3 games, I mean you could eat 3 sausage butties a day but the third one isn't going to taste as good as the first!"

Really enjoyed his analysis over the past year. He is usually spot on and seems like quite a likeable guy.

His thoughts on diving (just watched the video) were fantastic, absolutely bang on.

That's what brought me to put the thread up,what he was saying was bang on and no one else would have put it like him pussyfooted out and saying it was a stonewall penalty like clueless davie provan who always watches a completely different game to me,Neville says players are diving but doing it smartly which is spot on!

    That 3 butties ones a cracker :smiley-laughing002:

He's very decent, not biased like many ex-player pundits either.

Replaced Andy Gray well, like Gray just says things how they are and points out the obvious which is all you need/want. Dont like the other nuggets who blabber on a lot of pish and speak when not needed.

Gray was not like that at all. He was a mouthpiece for Sky EPL dogma.

Neville, as much as I disliked him as a player, is a refreshing change.

I can't find the link but Jamie carragher was class when he phoned up talksport, think it was that Durham guy or whatever his name was and he slated carragher and carragher rang up the show and absolutely terrorised them,he was brilliant was about 20 odd minutes or so if I remember right...

He'll do alright, bit of an ex scouser thing going on there though him, rednapp, souness

To be fair though when Gray was like that the English League was the best at the time.

The best League in the world probably went

    55-60 Spain
    60-70 Italy
    70-84 England
    84-99 Italy
    99-05 Spain
    05-08 England
    08-12 Spain
    12--- Germany

Never liked him at all as a player, still don't really like him. But can't fault him at all as a pundit.

He is the only pundit that has pointed something out after a game that Ive not noticed during a match. His in depth knowledge of the game is the best on TV. He points out what tweaks the manager has made. Even though its been a minor change but its enough to turn the game round to their favour. When a usual pundit says "Ooooh they've moved it up a gear". Arseholes like Niall Quinn. I dont like it when Neville is in the commentary box. Just another ex player commentator.

I can't stand Niall Quinn and how biased is he when he's doing his ex teams it's actually ridiculous how much of an araenkick he is,while in the subject of Irish pundits two names jim beglin and that fake * Townsend they are a disgrace and the biggest * licks in telly, absolute * crawlers!

A few months ago Phil Neville was about to make his 500th PL appearance. The other guy, Ed Chamberlain is it?, asked something along the lines of him maybe being jealous of Phil for that.

He was like, "no it's quality, not quantity" :smiley-laughing002:

I was really surprised, think he's a great pundit.

To have such a long career without, relatively speaking, great natural talent means you have to have a great understanding of the game.

Breath of fresh air for me.

Thinking of all the Sky people, he and Alan Smith are really the only common ones who aren't biased.

    Souness,Redknapp (prob Carragher) pro-Liverpool 24/7
    Hoddle and Redknapp pro-Tottenham.
    Wilkins pro-Chelsea.
    Quinn pro-Man City.
    Ian Wright pro-Arsenal.

Special mention for ESPN's Waddle who is a first-rate *...the way he talks about players sometimes you'd think he was Pele,Maradona and Messi rolled into one, where in reality he's the pish one.

Best pundit on the tele by a long way, puts other supposed 'experts' to shame. Dont mind souness either tbh, ray wilkins and nial quinn annoy me the most, wilkins habit of calling popular english players by their first name whilst doing commentary is cringeworthy and infuriating, nial quinn is just ridiculously biased towards city. Burley and walker arent even worth mentioning.

He's been brilliant since the first show where he was nervous as * and didn't know what to do with his arms.
