There's nothing wrong with giving a player some pelters when he has played *. As long as it doesn't go over the top.

He seems a nice guy who is willing to work but at the end of the day I don't personally feel he is good enough. If folk want to coming ally defend him and see him given chance after chance then fair enough. I only want what is best for the squad as a whole and I don't think he is worth the effort.

Put it this way, could he be replaced?

    Very easily, in my opinion.

He seems too quiet and likeable for someone to give him abuse as well, you would feel sorry for him like you were bullying him. That sums him up.

Nose bleed every time there is some pressure and he has the ball, he looked poor yesterday in a team that was off form for 45mins.

Very frustrating from GMS, as poor as the team were in the 1st half, he just couldn't get anything right. Challenge for him is that he is a confidence player, yet a team on form, winning, with a strength in depth means that you cannot give someone a few games to build confidence.
Rightfully taken off at halftime on Sunday and I personally will not be upset if that it him out of the team

You know how you hear about those guys who never made it in professional football? Guys who were always the most talented, but just didn't have what it takes to become a professional?

I think Gary Mackay-Steven is what happens when one of those guys actually makes it.

I like the guy, he is quick and has great awareness but the problem is he seems to have no confidence in his right foot. He should be spending hours on the training ground just slamming in shots with his right. However I remember at the pathetic level I played football I grew up all right-footed and I was never able, even though I tried, to get anywhere near as effective with my left.

I think he suffers from Deila syndrome.

He seems like one of the most likeable guys in the world but maybe just doesn't have the strength of character to handle the pressure of teams like Celtic but would obviously thrive at the likes of Dundee United or an Aberdeen.

Really it just takes practice, more practice and even more practice. Repetition is the Key. I did it, so anybody can do it, my left is as good as my right now, in fact it is more cultured. I hate to see players using their left leg only to stand on, it's just sheer laziness. It might takes years to develope it, but it is worth it.

    Yeah a think
yeah a think if he starts well he can do ok, but if he makes a few mistakes early doors and the fans get on his back a bit his confidence is shattered , you see guys like Griffiths Roberts n Moussa if they get subbed they don't look happy whereas a think wee McKay Steven was dying to come off yesterday, think it's just his nature

your right mate, a dare say him and efe come across as 2 of the nicest blokes in football but sadly nice blokes who make a lot of mistakes don't win football matches

He's the ultimate fair weather player as far as I'm concerned. If you are 2 or 3 up and coasting he can turn on the style, but if you are struggling when it's 0-0, or you're behind, he's not the player that is going to dig you out that hole. Maybe Brendan can turm him around but I can't see it myself.

a didn't think we did anything good in the first half, everything good we did came in the second half when Roberts came on and McKay Steven was off

I think what he was trying to say was that most chances that Celtic got came through GMS. He won it multiple times in the middle of the park & then lost it in their 18yard box. Also, he should've won a pen. Put in a decent shift, lacks the mentality to play for this club. Unfortunately.

On Sunday I was actually surprised at all the criticism he was getting because he looked to be one of the few in the team that looked like they wanted to make something happen in the first half when most of the team looked very flat and offered little going forward. Nothing was working but at least he looked interested.

Roberts is a better player and Rodgers was proved right in subbing GMS but on another day, when the team as a whole were on their game, GMS may not have been seen in such a bad light as we may have gotten on the end of things.

I don't think he's had enough of a run to get into his stride and it's probably true of most of his time at Celtic as he's had injuries and has been in and out of the team. Still willing to give him a chance as he can play either flank and he could have an important part to play next season once Roberts leaves, especially if we don't bring in anyone else. There's a player in there but he definitely thrives on confidence so happy to give him time.
