So did the club , but that would have required money when they were plenty of boerrigters to be signed first.

The club wanted him but would have to have spent money so they spent money on someone else instead? :97:

Mr Deila certainly appears to be 'winger-daft', to coin a phrase.

It's a good signing, he's a talented boy and certainly a better player than Forrest and Borregter for me.

The fannying about over £250,000 does * me off though. Just pay it and get the boy in now for * sake.

To be fair to Deila, we are horribly lacking in the winger department. As with the 0-0 at Ross County and today it was blindingly obvious we need natural width. We've become a bit too reliant on our full backs to create from the flanks, much like in Lennon's first season.

A fit Forrest, GMS and Maloney would give us many more dimensions to our attacks. And I think our strikers would benefit from having those players around as well.

I don't think width is our problem. Stokes, Izzy, Wakaso, Matthews, Tonev, Griffiths etc can all do a job out there. We put in countless crosses every game, they just all get headed away.

It's a 'number 10' we lack, someone that can create something from the middle and plug the gap between midfiled and attack.

If only we could find a player like that, one that could score 30 odd goals from that position.

    Oh wait ...

Can't wait to see him in the team, preferably with Forrest (or another new winger) interchanging and switching constantly. The likes of Stokes and Guidetti will have a field day and only score more and more. :celt_2:

    Stokes - striker.
    Izzy - full back.
    Wakaso - face doesn't fit.
    Matthews - full back.
    Tonev - absolutely gash.
    Griffiths - striker.

You're right we do have plenty of players that can 'do a job' but we lack genuine out and out wingers. Forrest is the only one we have and he spends more than half his time on a physios's bench.

I could not disagree with this more. I like Stokes but he is not a good striker for us.

I wasn't overly excited about this one but like any player we sign I am looking forward to him playing for us, see what he can do in a Celtic shirt.

He is an improvement on most we have in the same position and will surely bring more creativity.

Still feel that another winger/inside forward/playmaker is needed.

You could not disagree with a fact more? :56:

Anthony Stokes is 26 years old, he has been a striker since he was an Arsenal youngster. That doesn't become a myth just because you disagree with it.

He's never played next to either in Europe.

Hope to * all these wingers means a end to playing our strikers as something other than strikers.
It would help with our goal problems.

In fairness Stokes has created 18 goals this season from the left sided position.

Scored 8 himself and think assisted 10.
