We got 400k for our draw alone last night, and that isn't even taking into account TV revenue, match income, etc.

We could easily sign Russell, if we wanted.

Hope we sign Johnny Russell. Just hope he isn't the type to get too big for his boots, he seems that type. Hope he doesn't get the number 7 shirt. No were near worthy of it.

The only reason I would want either of them signed is so we meet regulations for the CL.

However, I think in Watt and McGeoch we have our own talent. That is without looking at the likes of Denny Johnstone or Paul George...

I dont want or think we need to spend money on them when all they would do would be add depth to our squad, they would not improve it. They would also slow down the prospects we have at the club anyways

part in bold, how do you know 100% that they would not improve the team???? GMS IMO would improve us down the left hand side with his pace no problem, also russell has pace to burn as well, i remember people saying the same things about SPL players we have had in the last 5-6 years and they have been great for us

I've not seen anything from either player to suggest they would displace a 1st team regular, make an impact in Europe and/or to warrant Celtic paying a transfer fee.

    Maybe on a free transfer...

Yeah, with Watt, McGeouch and the likes of George coming through, I don't really see the need in either of these lads anymore. In saying that, I'd much rather Mackay-Steven if we were to go for one.

For the millionth time in this thread.....I would take GMS in a heartbeat.

He is different to anything else we have in the squad and has outstanding potential.

But neither is Miku tbh. (And yes I know I have him on my avatar...)

Anyway, I hope he (Russell) signs, seems a very good talent and somebody that actually supports Celtic too, he could be somebody that gives full commitment every game he plays :50:

Neither of them are needed. We should swoop for both if/when serious outside interest develops, purely to * off other clubs and not let good Scottish talent leave the SPL or go to another country. But if they both sign 5 year contracts and Utd this week and stay there for the duration I wouldn't give a *.

They are excellent players at the SPL level and look really good playing for Dundee Utd, coming here battle Paddy for his bench seat would be a shame.

i hate that expression. if they're good enough, why does it matter of the price. if the price is too much, we move on.

i wouldn't mind us paying decent money for them both. rated them for a long time now and they would add something to the team and eventually make their mark on the first team, that's if they don't do it when they both come in.

    really hope we sign them.

As I said, I haven't seen anything from either player to suggest they would displace a first team regular at Celtic, make an impact on the European stage etc- so I don't think Celtic should spend any money on them.

However I could be wrong, and one or both players could be useful additions to the squad- but I just can't see it at this stage. So free transfers would clearly reduce the 'risk'?
