i think it's lazy journalism but i would welcome all three with open arms.

i would only take Gordon if Forster didn't make the move to us permanent.

Russell, i see him making a very similar impact to that of Stokes did when he moved from Hibs to us.

Mackay-Steven, imo, would make the step up with ease. i think he would fit in perfectly with his style and our attacking prowess. for some reasoning i cannot explain, i think he would be the best out of the three at making a dent in Europe.

we need a permanent keeper first and foremost in the next window. we rely on Stokes and Hooper too much for goals and there could be a gap for another winger if we unload some of those that don't get a look in on the wings.

Mackay-Steven and Russell for £3m combined would be an amazing bit of business.

Same, I will be absolutley delighted the day he signs(if he does) not wanted a player to sign as much since James McCarthy. You can just tell he'll be brilliant for us plus hes the type of character like Broony, Ledley and Mulgrew who up the level of everyone else just by getting tore in and showing how its done not to mention he is a very intelligent and skilled player, I would say the most skilled out of all the Scottish strikers/forwards since McFadden.

Ill end up overhyping him too much on here he'll sign and be * haha :52:

But ive always looked out for him since about maybe 2 year ago, my old boss was a Dundee Utd fan I hardly ever spoke to him or knew him and just one day we were talking about the football and Goodwillie and Chris Maguire, he said along the lines of Maguire is a more skillful player but Goodwillie gives 100% but theres a boy Russell coming through whos twice as good as them both, hes a Celtic fan too blah blah blah ive just looked out for him since and ive always thought he was quality when ive seen him.:50:

If we got Forster, Russell, Mackay Steven and maybe a CB, and kept our best players like Kayal, Ledley, Izzy Mulgrew etc i will be a very happy Tim :celt_2:

    :notworthy his celebration

He also "done the Lenny" in that recent game they skelped the huns.

He's that good even Dundee Utd fans sing a song about him aswell I see, I cant even remember an SPL diddy team singing a song about one of their players :56::56:

Sign the pair up. They'd be brilliant for us with better players around them.

i want those three here...but not that badly. giving up proven goalscorers for these unproven players is a massive risk.

I would absolutely love them both and to be honest I'll be disappointed if we don't sign them, but I honestly think the best bit of business to be done would be Paul Dixon for free. Missing a trick if we let him go elsewhere.

I don't really wanna see us sign either this summer tbh.
Too many times in the past either us or the huns have snapped up a young player just as soon as they've shown signs of promise at a small club, then gone on to * all.

Neither of them are better than what we currently have, Russell isn't better than Hooper, Stokes or Samaras on his day, and GMS isn't better than Forrest.
If Commons gets his fitness and form fully back then think he's better on the left as well.

Dundee would not want to sell them to us for any less than 3m each and it would be a big risk considering GMS has had terrible injury problems and none of them have played at a high level.
I think the only players we should try and sign this summer are proven quality, i'm all for young talent for the future of course but i'd rather to get 1 or 2 experienced top players in and keep pushing the young bhoys we've already got.

That's another thing I don't think Russell or GMS are better than McGeouch, Ibrahim or Twardzik from what i've seen.
Maybe next year if they keep progressing we can go in for them.

He's their LB right? Is he really better than Izzy, Mulgrew or Ledley?
I don't want us to sign people just for the sake of it, even if they cost nothing.
We need to trim our squad by at least 6 players, and as I said only add to it with PROVEN quality.

Sorry if I sound like i'm being harsh I just don't think pinching decent players from decent Scottish clubs is the way to go, let our own youth progress and buy quality from abroad to supplement it.

We should be aiming higher, if we have intentions of launching another assault on Europe next season.

For the SPL though, these would be two great additions.

Fair points. However having a left back as good as Izzy has shown us what we have been missing all these years. I think this year, not having him again, has actually impacted how we play. We have about five people contending for the right back slot. It'd be nice to have two dedicated left backs. I hate seeing right backs filling in there.

Yes we have Ledley, but he is not a left back and his is nothing more than adequate there. He does a job and he gets my appreciation for it, but he should either play CM or not at all.

Mulgrew is getting better and better at left back yes, but he is probably a first choice for CB and it means constantly reshuffling the back line. I'd like Mulgrew to be the left sided, ball playing centre back for us for years to come.

I expect we will drop a couple of RBs in the Summer, but we will still have two good quality RBs fighting for a spot. Lets have the same on the left. Any time that there is a change in the team it's usually to accommodate the LB position. Doesn't happen with any other position in the team and so it shouldn't.

    Slightly off topic :56:

Oh and Dixon is very good. Performed well against the huns a few times. I see him as a possible Mark Wilson of LB.

Completely agree with this, I think Russell would be great in europe because of his pace and workrate.

I see people saying its too soon to get them but the truth is if we don't take them now an EPL team will like they did with James McCarthy

Sometimes you get gut feelings about players. I think both of these lads would go absolutely orbital if they made the move to us. And I mean, good enough for Europe. Can't back that up with too much evidence - just a hunch. I've got a great feeling about both of them. For all Mulgrew has his detractors when he signed, there were one or two (ahem!) on this board that had a good vibe. Dixon would also be very good business, imo.
