    After two seasons with us half the people who want Russell would think he's pish. Whenever any player is out our team for a few months the supporters with very short memories immediately turn on them and want them sold and replaced. The fact is Stokes is twice the player Russell will ever be. He has the ability to lead the line on his own in Europe - he showed that against Rennes - and if he and Hooper can get a good run of games in Europe then Stokes will be banging them in at that level. The only thing that Russell has over Stokes is pace and even then its not by much. Stokes is head and shoulders above Russell in all technical aspects and to be honest I think its a bit insulting that people are even comparing the two never mind suggesting Russell is better.

    Russell has much more potential. Stokes will never get any better so just isn't as exciting. I also really disagree with leading the line on his own in Europe. Yes he done it once, against a very mediocre performance, when we played very well and he actually missed a few good chances. Playing on his own in the SPL he has looked useless more often than not as he has no real speed.

    Agee of my arub mates saying russel has played his last game and is now a Celt ? Can't see it anywhere myself though.?I'd be over the moon if we spent 5 on Rhodes and 3 on russel and mcail smith and sold ki,Murphy and bangura who I've never seen play yet, eather he's another paddy or another Maloney but no use if he can't challenge the 1st teamers. Hh

    no point spending money on Mackay-Steven as his contract is up at the end of the season is it not? I would however now like to see us spend 1m on Russell. Was a bit unsure at first but his performance yesterday has made me think that he is worth the risk.

    I don't forget it, I just didn't mention it as I didn't think it was relevant. I include assists in everything I said. Russell is also integral to his teams build up play and he can develop to be as good as, if not better, than Stokes in that area too.

    GMS contract is up in 2015.

    we had a £1.5m bid rejected for Russell in Jan so i can't see them accepting £1m for him now. would be closer to triple that to land him but i would take the gamble tbh.

    I'd rather have Russell tbh I think we should make a move for him although I think utd want somewhere around 3 million which is a bit much imo.

    The bidding will start at 2 illion but he will leave for closer to 3.

    United have shown they will not let their players go on the cheap - see the transfers of Goodwillie and Noel Hunt.

    And they have already stated that the sales of Russel and/or Mackay Steven will near enough wipe out their debt, which means they will be wanting as much as possible.
