I totally disagree. Commons is a neat and tidy player with a great dig. That is all. MS has an amazing left peg. I havent seen evidence that mcGeouch has that level of talent. He would be well worth a 2.5 million bid. I would even go higher.

If its a double bid 4 million would be fair IMO. You have to pay the going rate and they are easily worth 2 million each, probably more.

Commons and Mackay-Steven, you couldn't really compare them. IT might save a lot of hassle to sign Scottish talent. £4 million is a lot maybe they are worth it.

For that kind of cash, they need to do it for longer than six months to a year.

McGeough hasn't played that much so it's hard to tell. At some point though, you have to back the players from our own youth team.

Think it's safe to say that Mackay will be seen in the Hoops at some time. But i think Lenny will wait and let him mature at United for a while longer.

He'd be a welcome addition and he could be a revelation. But Johnny Russell is too similar to what we have already. But y'know it's all pie in the sky until you see the guy in there.

There's also the issue of keeping the money invested in the Scottish clubs, rather than giving money to say Helsinborg. We may come up against them in the qualis and have helped invest in their team. Never thought of it like that before.

i don't rate GMS or Russell? i think you're very much mistaken.

your view on Brown is growing tired. we get it you don't rate him. absolute knuckle-dragging. every thread turns into 'Butch doesn't rate Brown'.

Very unlike him, its as if Butch has had a personality transplant.

He is quite similar to Hooper and Stokes but also very different too, he plays in a deeper role, is a better playmaker than both and has speed that they dont have, hes also very clever at playing through balls and carrying the ball on runs that they dont really do.

    Brown Kayal Ledley
    Russell
    Hooper Stokes
(If we played that now with Commons instead, we wouldnt have any pace but with Russell there instead, someone who is quick it would work much better)

I think Russell would open us up to playing all different formations as he can play wide on either side of a 4-4-2, he can play as a striker in a 4-4-2, he can play in the hole of a 4-1-1, he can play either side or in the hole in a 4-2-3-1. I think he could play as a support striker or in the hole better than any of our other players and in a 4-4-2 with him and Forrest on the wings would offer us pace on either side. His pace would just be a good addition as aside from Forrest none of our attacking players are quick at just springing away with the ball except Brown but he doesnt carry the ball forward much.

Anyway, enough about the butch/Brown debacle, let's speak of more interesting topics :50:

I'd like to see both players at CP - both would bring different qualities to the squad.

Their main quality that would be added we dont have is speed. They are both rapid over 10 yards. Currently only Forrest, Brown and Matthews are that quick in the whole squad.

Mackay-Stevens would offer us a naturally left-footed, left-sided winger with a bit of skills and of course speed.

Russell would offer us guile and determination - added to the fact he's a raging tim - would run through a brick wall for us, as well as adding a wee bit of skill.

No he doesn't. Every time Mackay-Steven hits the ball he scuffs it. Commons has an absolute wand of a left foot and can generate power, accuracy and finesse that Mackay-Steven couldn't dream of. Mackay-Steven is fast and tricky but to suggest that he has a better left foot than Commons is actually laughable.

Aye, I was thinking about that the other night when looking at Commons and Hooper leading the line. Hardly guys that will test your defensive line, albeit they're pretty nippy when the ball is played into them.

Some fresh faces are required, and these guys seem like the right medicine.

Aye I would say that aboout Mackay-Steven too. To call his left peg "amazing" is going way over the top. Its not half as good as Commons or Mulgrew.

Im quite wary of Mackay-Steven as I dont see how he can improve much, hes too slight but it seems to favour his style, so if he bulked up a bit he may not be as good, yet as he is he gets bumped about a lot and tires in games. Might just be a lack of fitness though as we seen with Mulgrew how much he improved his speed and stamina after a few months training at our level.

I think if we were to sign him hed end up getting a bit of abuse from the crowd as in "aawwww fucksake" quite a lot as he often over runs the ball or does a trick and tries to run away and loses the ball or holds onto it too long and loses the ball. At Dundee Utd though it doesnt matter as much and is over looked, as his skill and dribbling is better than they usually see. But with us he'd be compared to players like McGeady, Maloney, McCourt, Commons, Nakamura, Thompson.

what part of Browns play do you see, as i am stumped, what i see of our play with Brown is this, we play one some times 2 up front, what dose that then tell you We have 2-3 extra men, well why the * are we getting goals scored against us, simple BROWN is running about like, as my avatar says, he is chasing nothing doing nothing. we don't get many chances with good teams, but we don't need fools in the team to make us look worse than we are. if running about seems the way we play the game by * only an idiot would want to run about, the balls not a square box, but from what i see we get from Brown, it would be as well as, the 2 players we seek here we know what they can bring i dont want the board to go out and bring some one out a mud hut that they would do, and then he states he allways followed CELTIC or his statement is only here, as a stepping stone. the 4 guys rangers got in they are not going to be ornaments trust me and when the time comes to meet in cups dont want to be there with egg on my face.

Mackay stevens would be an exciting buy , the guys electric pace has been lighting up the SPL for a few years now. Hes got the pace we lack ! As for Johnny russell, think we've got better already at the club. We need at least another 4 new faces , 2 centre backs for a start and 2 big strikers. Maybe with euro dosh we will see new faces in the next few weeks .

We should go out now and buy Jordan Rhodes, GMS and JR, along with top ball winning centre back. This could be funded by the sale of Ki and possibly Hoops along with Champions league money. We should always look to improve and make a big impact when we beat Big Helsy.:celt_2:
