...and how do you work that one out? Dundee United sold their best player of the last decade for £2.8m. Even before this Newco nonsense, United were one of the financially worst off teams in the SPL. They're in no position to ask for much more than £2m.

So aye, 'very good' right enough.

Like the top two options the best. I think 4-2-3-1 would fit us like a glove, especially if we signed GMS and Russell.

Because clubs down in England are tracking them both do you think we are the only club that wants them ffs.

Huddersfield Town are willing to buy them both and will start the bidding at £3m but they will sell to us for £2m.

And you believe they're going to offer £3m to a club in United's financial position? Come on, Huddersfield aren't daft - if they do 'start the bidding', it'll be for considerably less than £3m. It might go up to that, but certainly won't start there (imo), and United would probs bite anyone's hand off for £2m in their financial state.

I don't need to be told we're not the only club after them. What I would like to see is any scrap of evidence at all that United's arm wouldn't be twisted at £2m. Even if there were a bidding war, it'd almost certainly begin low and end low, given United's financial position. I'd say.

It all depends on how much interest their is from down south and also their contract situations (anybody know how long left on their contracts?) as to what price they will be allowed to leave, if their is little interest from championship clubs and we reach the end of august we may get both for arond 2.5m - 3.5m, bear in mind they knocked back an offer in Jan from us for Russell that was around the 1m mark and they seem to rate GMS even higher, tbh I doubt we would even bid for GMS as Lenny has never mentioned a winger as a position he wants to fill.

Lenny takes him seriously and that should be good enough for you.

Aye great point mate. He's played more first team games so he's better. David Healy must be better than Neymar then by that logic. If McGeouch was playing for Dundee United he'd have made a better impact than Mackay Steven in my opinion. I'd also rather give Ibrahim a chance before we signed him.

Mackay Steven is a good player but nowhere near the ability of Commons. Literally nowhere near. He'll improve our squad definitely. Will he improve our starting 11? I doubt it.

there's no evidence that £2m would be enough to make Utd even think about it.

they turned down £1.5m from us last window for Russell so i highly doubt they'll sell both for £2m. even at £3m, it may not be enough.

can only see a deal being cheaper for us is if we throw a season long loan of McGeouch into the mix.

we are looking for 3 players a target man and 2 midfield players that have ball skills and ability ( 1 ) can shoot straight is a must not scared to put his head were it hurts
and takes no * from deluded captains, that cant even produce anything at all of note, and to say we would grudge £3-4 million for the said 2 players when we see what we wasted on Brown at the cost of £5million this must be the biggest flop we have had at cost, it is the biggest joke yet, if it was even in old zlotych money or lira we used, it would still be over the top, and its still to this day the most taked about, around every camp fire. The day John Collins sold us a pup. he was again exposed and the team once again caried him. get rid now and we move on to better results.

You would make a truly fascinating subject for extensive psychoanalysis.

Can we arrange a Rorschach test in the pub section?

Are they not cup tied for Europe now anyway. Let them develop at United. We have players in both positions that can do a better job than both these guys.

Mackay-Steven is a player to watch, i like him. Best to let them develop at Dundee United for a while longer.
