I'll tell you one thing Mackay-Steven has over Forrest and that is his control of the ball. It is absolutely mesmerising. Peter Houston was talking today about how they've been working with him over the summer to learn to come inside more to affect the game in more dangerous areas.

I think this is one we really need to consider.

Dundee Utd would be looking for around £4m for them both.

Can't see us buying either tbh. Don't need them to win the title at a canter and they're not good enough to cause serious damage in Europe so i can't see either sadly.

Fair point, but are we likely to play him ahead of what we have? I'd love us to sign him myself btw.

Here's the real question. Would you like to see our resources, if Pedro allows any, spent on 2 Dundee United players or a Centre Back and Target Man Striker?

I've thought Daly is worth a punt for a while now. Some of his goals have been top class finishes and he is a real handful.

Ideal situation would be leaving them for at United for a season and being able to pick GMS up on a free and maybe buying Russell. How long would Russell have on his contract after this season?

I would also be interested in Daly. I think he could make a real difference to the way we play. We'd be much more effective with him throwing his weight around and getting on the end of crosses in the box. He's the best at it in the SPL and he gives us a different option.

I think both of these guys would be excellent for us and wouldn't need any settling in period, signing players like this is much less risk than the likes of Bangura, Brozek etc

I like both players. I don't really think now is the right time to move for them. They've only really had one season in the SPL and I think next summer would be a better time to start talking about them as potential signings.

I don't care about making the League 'weaker'. We have to do what's best for us and snapping up the best SPL talent has proved a decent policy for us over the last few years.
The likes of Brown, Hartley, Caldwell, McDonald, Robson etc all knew the League and added some steel to the side. We'd be daft to miss out on the best of the rest in Scotland and risk seeing them go down South

Agreed. People still moan about missing out on Steven Fletcher and that was definitely what was best for the league but it was no good for us was it?

I'd rather they'd stay in Scotland than go down south. Terrific talent.
If that means they sign for us and make Dundee United "weaker", then so be it.

'Weakening the league' will not even come into our thinking.

Our board and our manager are the custodians of Celtic, not the SPL.

Seen both live a good few times and Mackay-Steven always really impressed me. Got the beating of his man nine times out of ten and more often than not has a real end product (moreso than a lot of us say about Jimmy). Not convinced by Russell, think he's a good young player but in terms of what we need he's far from it imo. Only problem is if we sign GMS that's Commons, Samaras, Forrest and him vying for two wing spots - it'd seem harsh to drop any if that's the case.
