    Amen to that mate!

They kept posting the usual "I hear the OLD FIRM need a penny or two these days so we could land him."

Couldn't be any more wrong if they tried.

Theres no way Hooper will join Southampton, doesn't matter how many times the arrogant English press try and make it look like its going to happen.Cant wait until this transfer window closes, get on with winning this treble and getting into Champions league.:celt_2:

Southampton Fan: While I'm not usually of the "spend, spend, spend" club I do think that smashing our record fee on this guy could be very good business. Don't forget we have the Oxlade-Chamberlain money to spend, Hooper has a hugely impressive goal ration including Championship (with a team that struggled), and crucially as a young English player he will have significant on-selling value if we wish in a couple of years. Not suggesting we would want to sell him on, but merely that this plays a big part in determining value.

At least 1 of them realises that Celtic will not be push overs.

Talk about not having a clue, English press need to do more research as-well as Southampton's fans I think.

southhampton got 12m for oxlaide-chamberlain who was playing in league one and then all of their fans are going on about how hooper is a 6m pound player at most due to the level he plays at, you really couldnt make it up.

I guess we are broke:97::97:, I must have missed that.

I get the impression that most Southampton fans are stupid and arrogant from reading their forum, Hooper has never said anything about wanting a move. He recently said he wants to sign a new contract here and would be happy to spend his career here, doesn't sound like someone angling for a move to me.

The board would never saction Hooper leaving, they know we as fans are pretty much demanding the league this year,if we sold him then lost the league the board would be forced out and they know it.

Southampton fans seem to be valuing him at around £7m. I value him at about £10m. I wouldn't be happy if we got any less than that for him, considering we're chasing the Treble and he is our main striker, with Stokes a close second.

If we got £10m for him, we could go all out for Jordan Rhodes or Baba Diawara.

the new agent has told hooper he deserves more than he is on at the moment and have aproached celtic. he has 16 months i think to go on contract and celtic are happy to leave it until the summer but the new agent wants it now and if celtic dont make improved offer the agent will push for a move.when he signed for us im sure his agent was his dad well its all change now hate these * agents:38:

I wouldn't worry to much, the board know we need to win the title this year and we would be in a terrible position if we let Hooper go. Hooper himself stated a few weeks ago that he wants a new deal and I don't think that would have changed.

That's exactly right mate, Celtic hold ALL the bargaining chips here and do not need to sell AT ALL.

Let's look at facts, not rumour or bullshit:

Gary Hooper is already worth 2.4 mill - as that's what Celtic payed Scunthorpe in 2010 and he has certainly not got worse since then.

He is not a big risk for a club to take, or simply only a "Scottish quality" player, as he scored 42 goals in 80 championship games so is proven in England, and he is English so obviously the culture/style of play and everything is not a problem.

As of I think today, Gary has scored 38 goals in 65 games for Celtic in all competitions.

Gary has scored 2 goals in 6 games in Europe. 2 of these were against Rennes and Udinese, both teams in the top 5 of 2 of the best leagues on Earth.
So he can score at home or away against the best teams in Europe, as well as small teams in England and Scotland.

I can think off the top of my head of him scoring in at least 3 old firms as well, so he is defo a player for the big occasion.

He is young and English. For some bizzare reason this combination of factors automatically adds at least 6 million to someone's price tag, whether they are good or not. Evidence of this can be seen aplenty: Andy Carroll, Conor Wickham, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young, Glen Johnson i'm pretty sure all cost over 10 million.

So because of all of these facts I personally wouldn't sell Hooper for any less than 15 MILLION POUNDS. And because it's January not the end of the season, prices can go up even further as clubs don't want to sell their stars in the middle of a year.

As I said Celtic hold all the cards here, the player is contracted, happy and wanted. We can keep him and let him win us the league and get us into the champions league, or we can sell him for a massive profit. Lennon and the board know this and nobody in England in their right mind can think they will get Hooper on the cheap. He is easily worth quadruple what we payed for him imo.

This is stupid logic but he is better than Andy Carroll right now, therefore we should only be accepting offers better than 35 million! Stupid logic - but we hold all the cards so can afford to be that cheeky to buying clubs. Even if we get 40 million, we coulg buy a world superstar who could either turn out to be Aguero, or Torres. You just never know what you'll get, so throwing away a proven consistent goalscorer at ANY LEVEL is out of the question.

The only thing that might make Gary go southampton is because he knows the manager, but he left him once to come up here so I don't see why he would reverse his decision. He has a very very real chance of playing against Barcelona (we are bound to get drawn vs them) if we get into the CL, Hooper cannot do that in all but 4 clubs in England.

I short, Super Gary Hooper remains a hoop!

What? That's exactly why we sold him, because he wasn't worth it and it's stupid money.
Hooper is worth 6mill at best, SPL is no better then the Championship so he's just a proven Championship level striker.

No, but we do, and we pay well. If we signed him we'd go up with a stronger squad then Norwich and they're 9th...
