If both were in the inside or outside the box ready to take a shot at goal.. anyone in the right frame of mind would back Griffiths more than Hooper to score cause has a lethal shot.

People that say Hooper is nothing but a poacher are clueless. And a never said that!

Yeh it be interesting to see there conversion rate over the last two years. I'd imagine Griffiths would be winning that since Hooper has declined and not scored as much.

Hartson and Sutton were still here after the king left and you say Hooper was the best:smiley-laughing002:

Mcdonald was on the same level as Hooper. Wee man was a class act for us to and he was a big game player.

Agree. With Fletcher we get more of a target man, better at collecting longer balls, maybe even at scoring from crosses.

Ultimately, we're looking at goals. Comparing differentt strikers and their styles, it doesn't matter, it's goals we want. The guy who would bag the most goals is the man. Right now, we have an in-form striker and i'd rather stick with him than take a punt on Hooper who hasn't quite found his form of old. Fletcher is a different option, so tactically would supplement Griff, as opposed to be his replacement.

    Yep, in a nutshell.

Fletcher is way better than Hooper And much better at holding the ball up. Just need him to stay fit.

Griffiths has a better ping on him, but he isn't a more clinical striker. He needs more efforts to get his goals than Hooper did for us in my opinion.

I'm not fussed about what Hooper has done since he left, I'm interested about what he done for us. If we are comparing Griffiths & Hooper, it would surely be better to compare what they did in a Celtic jersey?

I'd take Hooper over Fletcher. More mobile and a better finisher imo.

You don't care what Hooper is like now it's only about what he did previously? Fs that is the silliest thing I've read on here:56:

In that case lets forget if Billy McNeil is still any good, and throw him in at CB when Van Djik leaves cause the big man was quality for us back in the 60s:smiley-laughing002:

Seriously, no. It wouldn't be best to compare what they did at Celtic as Hooper was here over 2 years ago and has declined while the other is in fine form.

You seem to be forgetting Griffiths shoots constantly.. he's always on the move and looking to get shots as he loves shooting. So takes a helluva more shots at goal so his chance conversion shouldn't be near Hoopers. But a bet it is.

Anyway, Fletcher is much better than Hooper and never failed in the English Premiership like Hoops so close the thread and lets get Stevie boy in:50:

Form is temporary, class isn't. We all know what Gary Hooper is capable of, we seen it first hand when he played week in week out for us. It would be silly to now assume he is a poor player because he hasn't had the best time of it the last few years at Norwich.

I'm not forgetting that Griffiths shoots all the time. In fact, that is my whole point about him not being as clinical as Hooper. He needs to have more shots than Hooper, because he isn't as clinical a striker. You following now?

Fletcher isn't any better than Hooper. You are saying Hooper failed in the EPL, even though he finished top scorer for his club, but you don't think Fletcher has failed?

    * it, I've changed my mind. Bring Hooper back.

Griffiths will get benched straight away(again). But as Stokes found out, Guidete found out and Ciftci found out, you can't beat the Thumb. He'll prove he's better again and take his place back and Hooper will be back on the bench like he is at Norwich.

    Thumbs up for the Thumb:50::50:

Pity we didn't have him for last week, he might have taken one of the half chances that fell to Griffiths.

By the way, on the last page, you said Hooper was on McDonald's level, and you also said McDonald was a class act for us. So if Hooper was on the same level, he was also a class act by your own admission.

It's early though, so I'll let you off, you must be confused.

It's no you am wanting a response fae :smiley-laughing002:

Nah, in all seriousness, he might have not taken any of the chances either, but the one first half when the two centre halfs let it bounce, and the keeper ended up nowhere, I did wonder "what if".
