bit of a depressing summer so far :54: Big Victor and Hoops, we all knew they'd move on eventually but you have that little hope they will stay, Hooper wasn't superb last season but he scored some very important goals (Moscow, SC Final and more) we will miss him more then Victor in my opinion

The goal he scored against Rangers at Ibrox in the 4-2 defeat was absolutely outstanding, one of my favourite Hooper goals.

So the enviable has happened, not going to slate him but he's got exactly what he's been wanting for sometime. Good luck down there. Massive club? Lets just replace him with someone with a desire to wear the hoops now.hh

    He probably is.

The guy is English after all. At least when Scots/Irish and foreigners (I know Irish are 'foreigners' but you know what I mean), they realise how big a club we are, the history, the prestige, the fanbase and the ability to play to an adoring group of 60,000 fans in Paradise. Whereas Gary is English, he has grown up watching the English footie, probably idolises English players and players who have played for English clubs. Heck, at his age he has really only known the English league with all of the money, superficiality and 'hype' and being English, will have really bought into that.

So do you really think a dream of his was to play for Celtic in this league? I doubt it. He will feel at home there, regardless of the stature of his club. And lets face it, his chances of an England cap have now doubled by merely signing for an EPL team.

I know my post earlier about him grumpy * was daft.

I can't blame the lad for moving,he will be playing on proper football pitches every week, good crowds, more chance of an england call up and shitg like that.

Good luck Hooper and i wish you well.

I know I was only joking. It's just because when Wanyama got his picture taken his face was priceless.

Obviously he will be happy to move down there, I hope he fairs well.

I agree with you but, regarding Wanyama. You could see something in his demeanor. I honestly believe he is gutted to be going to Southampton. I dare say he would have been absolutely cheesing if he went to Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. However he has probably read up on Southampton, took note of these 'plans' and saw their fans and stadium - mediocre.

I reckon Wanyama was forced out by the club. He's only on £30 k a week at Southampton - surely we could have offered that?

We could, however we can't offer premiership football and the chance to play against Liverpool, Man U, City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc on a weekly basis.

First time I've been online all day/night, but I personally will miss Gary a lot.

Gave us some good memories in his three years here, especially against the filth against whom he loved to score.

Good luck to him in the future anyway, he repaid the £2.4m and then some :shamrock:
