Puts into perspective how good the Lions were that they could get the ball down and play quality attractive football on middens like that:notworthy

I’m aware of that mate, but doesn’t excuse the quality of pitch. My point was that players today complain about pitches that are like bowling greens compared to back then.

Yeah, not being condescending pal...just thinking out loud and being surprised at the state of the pitch.
Agree with your point and the pampering that players get now.

Just from the position of the floodlights, I'm thinking Hampden.

1985: Celtic play Athletico Madrid behind closed doors in European competition.

Nah mate defo Paradise, the Celtic end leading towards the jungle was quite narrow. Hampden much steeper..

But the Celtic End has no roof. Celtic Park had roofs all round, that's why I'm thinking Hampden

    Hi JB
The View shows the gap between the Celtic end and the Jungle, the pylon sat right on that terrace.
Behind it was the stairs heading down to the gates on Jane field St......great photo

Only has a small roof back then, they put a full roof on the away end first.. you can see a wee bit of the roof in the picture..

You can see it better in this picture and the building behind..:50:
