Always wondered why there isn't more footage of the Jungle. Can't find much on youtube, can't even find many pictures of it.

Aye even when you see old home games from the 70s and 80s there doesn't seem to be that great an atmosphere.

Also a lot of the stories of the jungle are of pals all standing together or people pishing and empty cans and wine bottles being lobbed down the front.

I think * were probably that blootered at the games back then and all standing talking with their pals they all came staggering out thinking the atmosphere was much better than it was.

I've seen 2 older European games too the full 90 minutes the 2-0 win against Real Madrid and 5-0 win against Sporting Lisbon, both from the 80s and the atmosphere are quite average, theres sporadic singing but the stadium isnt bouncing or anything at any point in the game. If you were to compare it to recent Champions League games then it's nowhere near as loud or as much singing.

I think it's a matter of opinion, I think the atmosphere sounded great pre 90's Parkhead.

Seeing the scarves raised and the sway of the people moving in the jungle is just brilliant.

That's a good point- if you're walking into a game with a carry out, you're naturally going to enjoy yourself more, getting pished and having a laugh with yer pals all together in the one area. No doubt it was incredible at times, but probably a lot of nostalgia from the people who experienced it as well- just a different world when you think about it, glass bottles and all sorts getting lobbed about :smiley-laughing002: Seems unbelievable to younger people now that you could walk into a game with a carry out.

Attendance would be up something unreal if it was allowed now. :56:

Every game would be a sell-out and most would be leaving sodden and stinking of stale beer.
