I'm sure it's still there, it was up flight of stairs from the street, well up past where hourstons etc would meet. May well be someones house now

Balbirs is just a 10 minute walk for me. It's really good, but they just never seem to get what I ask for just right. They try to cook everything exactly to everyones tastes thoug, must take some doing.

The place out in Minishant is very good too, converted church so some setting. Great meal and great service.

For me, the Rupee Rooms is still No1, though.

Lawthorn Farm in Irvine is tremendous for Indian grub. They do a buffet, and bring whatever you pick,to the table. The starters are a meal in themselves.A lamb madras wi a North Bengali chicken to put the fire out on ma tongue, are my regular dishes. Tasty!:47:

One of the most authentic dishes ive tried is Green Chillie Chicken Tikka Thava.

The old Underwood Lockhouse is (was:86:) the best place I ever been where I first tried this dish.......................

special chicken tikka karahi or a tikka chasni. sometimes a ceylonese korma for a wee change.

I have to say though in my line of work(shopfitting) most of our customers are Indian or Pakistani and the odd time we get a home cooked authentic Indian meals as a wee thank you, and they are usually superior to anything you will get in a restaurant. There was one guy used to bring in samosas his wife made for us every lunch time, these things were the size of my head!
