Not for me. He's a great keeper, no doubt, but we have to start building with the future in mind now, and you don't do that with 1 year loan deals. I also don't think he'd work that well with the way Ange likes to play, so I doubt we'd get the best out of him this season anyway.

Stubborn me says get *. We gave him a platform to reignite his career at then he told us to get *. And I’m not sure he’s a great fit for Ange ball to be honest.

On the other hand, he’s probably worth about 10 points a season on his own.

As much as the big man would be great for us, you have to ask the question, where is the forward planning ?

I don't believe he's coming for a second and it's all just paper talk however, if say he did come, he could be a stop gap until we finally identify a half decent GK for the future

At 33, and out of contract in a year where we could get him for free I reckon it’s great forward planning. He’s proven time and time again he can take us up a level.

He’ll have no wages in a year and his stock is low down south so we’d probably be his best option.

In fairness an EPL team could give him 40 - 50k a week to be a back-up.

But I'd definitely try to get him back.

Pure speculation but if I remember correctly there was a suggestion last season that he didn’t want to come because it wasn’t a permanent deal.

I remember thinking that at his age he might want to move somewhere a bit more permanently and the idea of moving up here for another year and then everything being up in the air again (during the pandemic) might be why he didn’t want to come on loan.

If he’s into his last year and we get a loan then you would imagine he would come here for a year then sign a contract, allowing him to move now and not be likely to move again.

Again pure speculation but if he has a wife or a partner (or kids) that could be a big part of his next move since he’s at an age people like to settle down but as a goalie he’s still arguably 5-7 years from retiring.

    Just something to consider.

I agree. I don't think anyone would pay anything near what he's getting atm.

If i knew that he would commit to Celtic for the next few years then aye it would be great, but 33 is still young for a GK, his thinking may be that he could get another gig in the EPL or even the Championship, they would easily be able to offer him at least double what he'd be on at Celtic.

I just don't like the uncertainty with yet another loan.

Up to him then. £40-£50k a week to sit on the bench or in the stands or £30k-40k a week to start for us every week.

Aye I get that, tbh though he can be the difference between winning the league and not and then it’s straight into the CL which would open up our options a lot more at that stage
