    we're nowhere near grovelling stage, we're not even out of June yet. There's two full months of the window to go.

    I don't see how we're being mucked about either. It's rank arrogance to expect Forster to just accept what we offer without seeing what the whole field looks like.

    The Scottish champions agreed a £2m fee for the Newcastle keeper, who has been on loan at Parkhead for two seasons.


    But Forster, 24, has decided to report back for training with Newcastle next week while he waits to see if an English club moves in for him.


    Forster wants to play in the Premier League, but it looks unlikely to happen at the Toon because of the form of Tim Krul.


    Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said yesterday: “He is coming back to us.


    “He will be with us until he finds a club and we find a fee that works for us.”


    Pardew already has three keepers in his squad, with Steve Harper and Rob Elliot as back-up for Krul.



    “It’s one area we are well stocked in,” added Pardew.


    Southampton have been linked with Forster, while Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is an admirer of a player he borrowed while in charge at Norwich.


    Meanwhile, Pardew’s bid to land Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld appears to be doomed.

    Are you wearing a blindfold or something? The guy came back from holiday weeks ago: could have had this sorted or said no then. No one's 'expecting' him to do anything other than have a bit of courtesy and tell us one way or the other. If the answer's a 'I'll have to wait and see', then we should take that as a no, or move on, as we've no time to wait for him this whole window.

    As for having 'two full months' - we have considerably less time before we play our first qualifier. We need our goalkeeping situation sorted a good few weeks before then. We have less than a month to get a 'keeper in, and the sooner the better.

    EDIT - It isn't just the amount of time he's taking with it: it's the fact that his agent came out and explicitly said he was about to sign. That was weeks ago: now we're hearing from more than one source that Pardew expects him back. If that isn't 'being mucked about', I'd like to hear your definition.
