for £2m, we must sign him. we arent going to find anyone better for that price. hes been here two years come the end of the season, knows the defence and the coaching staff well. he has vastly improved his game in the last year alone and he is only going to get better. sign him up.

I voted yes. Really didn't like him for a while but he has grown on me over time. 37 clean sheets from 71 games for us = not bad.

    YNWA! gets me every time!
:bbpd: i stand by the wanyama thread 100% cos all i said was how did people know he was a good signing before even seeing him play? :86:

anyway back on topic, i have a major concern with his kicking and his very immobile stature, just doesnt fill me with confidence, i personally feel in the modern game, ALL keepers should be comfortable with the ball at their feet and the big man looks like he is prodding the ball with a stick when he takes a touch! the goal in rennes is still fresh and the huns last season, and i think he is gonna have this problem his whole career. I just dont think its natural for him and when i see him charge out and stumble on to 1 knee like dunfermline on monday there(its on the bbc sport bit) i just think here we go!

decent shot stopper, but not for me, defo a kello or a gordon,or anyone who is decent on the ball and obv. a good keeper! :38::shamrock:

statistics are like mini-skirts, they show a lot, but hide the best bits!

that is a good record but it surely cant be down to him only?
i mean, our defence has been battered by EVERYONE all over the country and on every site going, and they have this many clean sheets?

maybe our defence is not as bad as people make out, ive always thought this was a propaganda stunt by many to dent confidence in the squad and amongst the fans. I still believe that to this day, human errors are common place and it only seems that the celtic ones are on the papers for days/weeks after they happen.

If we would have an decent keeper he would be the best number 2

are you being serious ever goal keeper can have problems with kicking just look at tim howard the other night. forster has been working on his kicking and the improvements are obvious to see and a wouldn't say he is that immobile either he reacts very quick to everything for a guy his size as for kello or gordon gordon will spend more time injured than he would playing and would be a waste of money and kello is just another zaluska good for back up but he will never be a number 1 at a club like celtic

what? howard scored so there is no problem wi his kicking certainly.

ive already stated my points on why i feel he is not celtic class.

i think we can and should do better- and they dont have to be expensive!

if only we comitted to getting k. westwood or given (ok given was 4m but forster is 2m , worth the hit for a higher calibre keeper) we certainly wouldnt be discussing the big tin man :50: :bbpd:

Funny poll result considering many people were saying he was * a couple of months ago.

My answer is neither Yes or No. My answer would be something like 'I'm happy for him to stay till the end of this season but I'd prefer us to sign Craig Gordon in the summer'.

yes seen that, 1 major difference, that was howards weak foot!

the ball reached the half way line as well so its an invalid point and wont change my opinion

fair enough a just think he should be judged on all his performances and not his 1 or 2 mistakes

I was one of those people a wee while back... but 2 things:

    1) Have to admit he's improved dramatically lately (probably last 10 games or so he's been solid/untested or superb/when tested)

    2) 'Keepers need to stay fit, and on Gordon's wages he hasn't stayed injury free enough over the last 3 years or so to justify that wage here. We'd be stuck with our 2nd choice keeper I'd imagine.

Craig Gordon would need to take a wage cut to come to Celtic. I believe he's on around £40,000 a week just now, I'd imagine he'd have to drop down to £25-30,000 a week at least. Would he be willing be to do that? I don't know, but I'd like to think he would.

Sometimes players just go through a bad run of injuries, obviously that's been the case with Craig Gordon. A change of scenery and training regime can sometimes make all the difference for a player. Look at Andy Webster, at Rangers he was permanently injured. He then went on loan for a season to Dundee Utd, was hardly ever injured and was one of the best players in the SPL that season.

I'd take the chance on Craig Gordon. The potential reward is so high with him. I think he's a brilliant goalkeeper, better than Allan MacGregor and Fraser Forster, and would be a real strength in our team for many years to come.

In a way I agree. I really like him - at one stage I thought he was destined for someone like Man Utd.

£25/30k a week is still humungous in our terms though. I'm not sure if I could take that risk.

But hypothetically if we could guarantee 95% of the next 4 years worth of games then obviously would snap the arm off that deal (no pun intended).

Realistically though, and in fairness to Forster - he's starting to look the part and for £2m and a fraction of Gordon's wages, the safest bet for sure.

Also a recent quote from Paul Lambert saying Forster will one day be an England cap and is one of the best young keepers he's ever seen. (Lambert worked with him at Norwich)

if we did go for gordon he would have to drop his wages to about 10 k or something like that and get the rest as an appearance bonus so that we aren't throwing away 25-30k a week on a player that isn't playing
