Has this transfer become official yet, don't recall seeing it on sky?

 

Still nothing on the Celtic website, and there've been reports we've been in talks with other keepers.

Think folk jumped the gun a wee bit over something they read in a * "newspaper"...

He wouldn't have posted that if he's not signed.

 

That was two days ago though. How come it's still not official?

Is he maybe confusing agreeing personal terms with signing?

Or maybe we're just delaying the announcement till after the headline-making SPL vote...

 

Did he not sign a 4 year deal?

 

Could be either. Maybe still has to pass the medical, not sure. I'm just sure it'll go through.

Celtic could just be taking their time to announce it. They did the same when Brown signed a new contract, was basically confirmed everywhere but didn't appear on the website until a week later. You remember that right? :icon_mrgreen:

 

I'm pretty sure he has signed... I know it's the Sun but even they wouldn't just make up direct quotes

Forster, who had been trailed by West Ham, QPR and Southampton, added: “After winning the league it was the right decision for me to come back to Celtic. The opportunity to play in the Champions League was something I couldn’t turn down. I’m excited about that.

“I was never tempted by other possibilities. There’s always speculation, but in my mind I felt I’d end up back at Celtic.

“I’m very happy that I’m going to be at Celtic for the next four years at least."

Was wondering if it had actually happened myself. I went to see Celtic's official site but there was no statement and has been nothing on the Sky Transfer news either.

I suppose we'll wait and see over the next couple of days or so for confirmation.

 

How could I forget?

Didn't believe that either till it was on the website.

Mind you, I was probably in catatonic denial.

 

Hopefully the club get it confirmed soon enough.

Delight as Celtic sign Fraser Forster on permanent deal

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Fraser Forster on a four-year contract. The goalkeeper, who has been on loan from Newcastle United for the last two seasons, has made his move to the Scottish champions a permanent one.

Forster, along with Lukasz Zaluska, claimed a new SPL clean sheet record last season, with 25 shut-outs between them. And in only conceding six league goals at Celtic Park, it was also the Hoops’ best defensive record at home for 90 years.

Forster spoke exclusively to the official website and expressed his delight at the new deal. "This is a massive club and I feel like this is a step forward in my career," he said. "I want to win things as a team and improve as an individual and I think I will be able to do that at Celtic.

"It also gives me a great opportunity to play in the Champions League if we get through the qualifiers. I really enjoyed my time in Europe last season so I will be looking forward to it if it happens again.

"I enjoyed last season as a whole and we have a great young squad here. The players and the coaches make it an enjoyable place to be and I like being a part of this team."

Manager, Neil Lennon, is also pleased about securing the keeper´s signature. "We are delighted that Fraser has committed his future to the club and we believe he will be a magnificent addition to the squad," he said.

"He gives us that continuity so this is something we are really pleased about. He is a top-class keeper."

 

Excellent news, it really is. In terms of value, getting him for 2 million is a * snip. Excellent piece of business.

Although we have known this since last weekend, I suspect the timing of the announcement had more to do with waiting til yesterday's vote was out of the way. This is terrific news. Couldn't be happier that FF has signed on for the next 4 years!

He's a very good keeper already; still young for a goalie, so bags of potential; and the bonus is he's already bedded into our team and has a great relationship with the coaching staff.

When you consider what you get in today's market for 2 million, that is a brilliant buy.

Could tell from his statements too that he's delighted to sign - despite his agent's prevarications...

 

Glad that it is official now, he has lots of potential.
