the man is slowly becoming a statistical legend for us in goal his clean sheet record means more then just being able to pull of some fancy superman saves every now and then

He wouldn't be playing second fiddle though: they'd be challenging each other for the jersey. I get your point though; why should he go from being outright number 1 at a mid-size club in a big league to being joint number 1 elsewhere?

I'd love to see either himself or Gordon with FF. Only problem then would be unceremoniously punting Lukasz Zaluska, which would be a bit of a shame given how great a servant he's been to this club.

If we can sign Craig Gordon then I don't want Fraser Forster back.

I didn't want him at the start of the season but he's proved me wrong. Would love him to sign permanently.

that would be a huge risk to take, there are some good players who would be great if it were not for injuries and we all say if they can stay injury free etc...

but then there are players like Gordon and Kieron Dyer and more who are defined now by injuries and are a safe bet to play a tiny amount of games every season while he would be on a free he would be an utter waste on wages if it were just him here with Zaluska

Because he's a much better goalkeeper in my opinion.

He's hardly played a game in about 3 years and is hardly special when he has... Still no less baffled..

Just seems some people don't like the look of forster? Here's hoping lennon has a bit more sense..

    on what basis mate?

it is hard to judge his performences because of injuries he's had which is got to be the biggest indicator that he would be a huge risk and to claim he is the better keeper is hard justify since he is only played a handful of games in the last 3-4 seasons.

If Craig Gordon was able to keep himself fit this would be an excellent piece of bussiness. Big IF though! Would still prefer the big man to sign

He's played over 40 games in the last 3 seasons so it's incorrect to say he's hardly played a game.

Also, the reason I want Celtic to sign Craig Gordon is not because I don't rate Fraser Forster. Forster is a good goalie and he has done well for Celtic but it is my opinion that Craig Gordon is a better goalkeeper. Just because Forster has done well, that does not mean we shouldn't look to upgrade on him if the opportunity presents itself.

Fraser Forster would cost us £2million to buy. Craig Gordon is a better goalkeeper and is available on a free transfer. I know what I would do.

On the basis that I think Gordon is a better goalkeeper. I think he's a better goalkeeper in several areas..........

    Better shot stopper
    Better at dealing with crosses
    Commands his area better
    Deals with pass backs better
Handles the ball better and doesn't punch balls as much

He's just a better all round goalkeeper in my view. The performances Craig Gordon put in for Scotland when they played France and Italy were exceptional. He demonstrated then that he was a goalkeeper who could excel at the very highest level. If we are going to do anything in the Champions League then we are going to need a goalkeeper who can stand out at that level because we are going to be under pressure a lot(especially away from home). Fraser Forster is as yet unproven at the very highest level. I'd feel more secure with Craig Gordon in between the sticks.

The only major drawback with Craig Gordon is his injury record. It is a worry, I'm not denying that at all. But the potential upside of signing him is so high that I would take the chance on him if he can pass a medical. If Craig Gordon signs for us then we could have the goalkeeper position sorted for the next 6-10 years. Fraser Forster is never going to stick around at Celtic that long. It's debatable whether he wants to be at Celtic even now, never mind in 6-10 years time.

Nothing against the big man, he's done well, but Craig Gordon is the better option here in my opinion.

Gordon is/was a better keeper theres no doubt about but having played so little games in the last few years no one can be sure he can still hit them heights, forsters a safer bet imo but i dont think he really wants to stay tbh.

I think Gordon's wage demands could be another problem MarkyBhoy.
He is a class keeper when fit, but to me he's too much of a gamble if we say spend 30k on wages and he gets injured.
He'll move to some mid-table English club and get his cushy wage pack. Forster has done great and has so much potential. That's why I personally would opt for Forster. But looks like his agent is holding out for a more monetary beneficial move down south.

If Forster didn't come Marky then who would you chose between Gordon and Boruc if we could get either?

The problem with Gordon is his injury problems. It would be a massive risk. He'd be on at least 25k per week and could easily be injured within weeks of signing - that's a huge outlay for us. It's like people saying they don't want Owen. No one is denying the ability of the potential signing but is the risk really worth it?
