I see what you mean, but Forster was up against different opponents from Boruc....can't compare the two IMO.

 

Broadly similar standard i'd say.

I would say it had declined from when Boruc left.....

Plus the defence (for all of it's faults), was a different level from the guys Tony Not-got-a-clue-bray had playing infront of Artur the previous season.

If Artur had played this season, with Lennon's defensive unit......I think we would have won the other cup final also.

 

possibly. I don't think the standard of the SPL has dropped though. Even previous seasons under strachan, Boruc didn't get as many shut outs as Forster.

I'm not saying hes in the same league as Boruc but he did do well for us in front of a shaky defence imo.

 

would rather save 500k and put in a £1m bid for Schmeichel.

 

Oh aye....I do not doubt for a second he did well Roslea..........

For me, he was a better option than Zaluska last season. I think Zaluska had a bit of a mental problem with stepping into Boruc's shoes last season, but I believe he will be up for the challenge of claiming the no.1 jersey this year.

Forster ,for me, was a good goalkeeper for last season, but I would rather this year, go for someone with vast more experience than Fraser.

On a side note, if we did sign him..the maximum I would be happy paying for him would be around the £1.5million mark - no more than that.

If we were inthe market for a prosperous Gk....I would go for Alex Smithies of Huddersfield

I'm disappointed we've made a bid for Forster. It's a bit of an anti climax after being linked with Given and Isaksson.

When were we linked with Isaksson? Given has always been a long shot. A helluva lot of money to spend on a 35 year old who doesn't have the best fitness record in recent seasons.

One of the last paragraphs talks about Isaksson.

But doing well is not what I want between the sticks.

If we happen to have the likes of Majstorovic out injured, I want someone that I fell comfortable with doing that job because looking at the CIS final line up didn’t inspire me that much.
If boruc was still there, I know I wouldn’t have been as negative in my thoughts.

Forster doesn’t give me the same confidence at the moment.

 

Not too sure on him he is a good shotstopper and good reflexes for a big guy, his speed off his line and kicking are poor but he's still young so £1.5 million for him seems a good deal if it comes off
