Celtic lost the league last year because they did not score enough goals. West Brom got relegated last year because they did not socre enough goals. I am up for giving him a chance in the hope he comes good.

We need to give this guy a chance. He will be a constant threat in the spl because of his pace and he is powerful. Once he gets his 1st goal i think he will settle. Would love to see him score in Moscow!

As long as he makes space for Skippy and takes the physical burden off him, last year he looked very alone up front and his goal ratio suffered.

I dont know if we really paid that much for him

West Brom Scored more goals in the second half of last season when he was there than they did in the first half when he was not.

He was no bought as an out and out striker. It is his alround game play. It fits into the style that mogga wants us to play.

McDonald is going to be our main goal threat feeding off the slick runs of Fortun'e. No body can doubt McDonalds finishing abilities and playing alongside someone who can make good runs and tear defences apart for him to finish is only going to improve our football as a whole.

Im looking forward to this Slick, silky attacking style that we are playing at the moment coming into real fruition.

    Come on the HOOPS
    Hail Hail

I know I made this point on another thread but did no one see the repeat of the Dinamo game on BBC alba? His second miss, the apparent sitter when you were at the game was really difficult. The ball is whipped along the 6 yard box really well by Maloney but as it comes across a defender gets a slight wicked deflection on it that makes it really difficult to strike for Fortune. It surprised me when I saw it on replay as I went home thinking 'what a donkey', which he may or may not prove to be but don't condemn him for that miss.

As an Albion fan who wasn't that impressed with Fortune when he was with us, it's interesting as to how he's percieved by Mowbray, Grant, Venus, yourselves as fans and how the statistics line up.

If you'll allow me to go all Statto on you, I'll give you my thoughts.

Undoubtedly true. In fact, the 1st 21 games which were pre Fortune, we scored 17 goals in the league (0.81 goals per game) compared to the final 17 league games which all featured Fortune where we scored an impressive :87: 19 goals (1.12 goals per game)

Hmmm, even if Fortune was directly responsible for the upturn of goals (which I'll come onto shortly), he was only worth 0.31 goals a game extra to us. That is 5 goals... exactly what he scored for us.

You may see why I don't particularly agree with Mogga.

Of the attacking midfielders who scored goals, in the first 21 games, midfielders of any description scored a grand total of........ 5 goals :54: (0.24 gpg) whereas the last 17 Fortune inspired games, they scored 11 goals (0.65 gpg). Better, I agree.

But, was this solely to do with Fortune?

I would argue that a bigger factor for this was Chris Brunts form in the last 17 games. You may say that this is directly attributable to Fortune as the stats weigh up. I would argue that of Brunts 8 (7 really, 1 was taken off him by the dubious goals panel) goals in the last 17 games, 2 were assists from Fortune (he had 1 other assist in the 17 games), 2 were penalties (1 won by Fortune) and 3 were direct from free kicks (none of which were won by Fortune).

Of course, this is open to debate/ridicule, but it's just my opinion.

with the size of the guy he should be bullying his way through the centre and puttin his foot through the ball no fancy runs or tricks thats what we need

i think that him and sammy r a bit alike (not that they r both pish ,i like they both of them) as in they both run the channells and try to run with the ball and drag players about the place,i dont think killen is that good i still think that we r short of a out and out 25 goal striker
