What's your take? Should it be banned? Is it a good thing?
Personally, I think it should be, players coming out after the game and making snide digs at their own managers, players, opposition, Refs etc, giving away personal stories within the club and can lead to loads of * for people like Neil Lennon who is always going to be abused by a bunch of *.

I think they should be allowed but they like any other person should take more care with what they are tweeting or posting on social networking sites
I know many employers now include social networking in the terms and conditions of employment and that breaching the rules regarding it is misconduct and is punishable through disciplinary action. -

Yes but should be watched what they are saying.
-
I think they should be allowed to use it, they are just like anyone else but they do need to watch what they say at times.

Quite happy with it, the only way you can get to know what a footballers like these days. Quite happy it being unmoderated and not just the cliches they spout to the media.
-
The option of "Yes, footballs are allowed to use the internet as freely any other profession or any other person" is missing from the poll.
-
I'd rather they spoke their mind than make money for lying hacks.

No problem with it. Great following some of the players and Lennon on Twitter.

* voted chose the wrong option. Ment to pick yes it's a modern part of football. Although I agree with jungle bhoy.

It is 2012 not 1912. Social media is a massive part of the majorty of society's lives.

I see where you're coming from. But I disagree. Just because their footballers doesn't mean they shouldn't have Twitter, or have it moderated. They are, for the most part, grown men and should know the meaning of self restraint. Much prefer their actual opinions than the usual pish they all use at pre- and post- match interviews. :50:

Would rather see what Lenny etc say through twitter than the lies, spin and words taken out of context as would be seen in the papers...

New option added to poll

It does make a nice change having people like Neil Lennon openly interacting with the fans like this. We've all complained about how modern football people are completely detatched from the fans and this is a chance to fix that.
I know that some footballers are just idiots and will make an * of themselves but it gives us something to talk about, doesn't it? -
yes but footballers need to understand what they can and can't say I have seen some of our younger lads using the term hun on twitter and as much as a don't have a problem with it there are people who will see it and report it to be twisted and just by using that one non offensive term it could result in them being kicked out the club and thats the dangers of social media. then there is the other side like with lenny where you see huge amounts of horrible vile comments being directed at him so moderating or even if twitter put in a proper way of reporting these things it could make a huge difference

No, they're professionals and should conduct themselves in a certain fashion.
