I'm calling shenanigans here on Football Manager...

Out of the last 10 knockout ties I've had in the past 3 seasons of the latter stages of the CL, in 9 of them the second leg has been away from home meaning the computer can * me up good and proper. All I ask is for the second leg to be at my stadium so I have a hope of knowing and getting what needs to be achieved!!

P.s. I scraped through against Barca after the equalised via a penalty in the second leg at the Nou Camp. I had to go 4-2-3-1 defensive and somehow pulled out a goal to make it 2-1 on aggregate. I got absolutely dominated but Asenjo had a great game.

Who's next? Only flipping Real Madrid! This is only the quarters!

Hah thats true. Well heres what happened. I beat Real 2-1 in the first leg at home. Shouldn't have let them score but they got lucky with Robben. So 2nd leg, things couldn't have started off better-ish. Marcelo clattered Marquinhos who then had to come off early in the first half. MArcelo got a red so I brought on an experienced German defensive full-back (Schwab) to replace Marqunhos as I thought I could protect my one goal lead.

Soon after, some boy Teixeria scores for Madrid and my plans are in ruins. At half-time I bring on the more attacking Zarate for Schwab as I'm desperate for a goal. Next thing is Cuellar get's sent off on the 73rd minute so I have 20 minutes to score the winner.

Even bringing on Nuri Sahin for the more defensive Hummels and setting my instructions to basically "all-out-attack" couldn't break down their 9 man defence. It's official FM hates me!

I would've put more men in the striker position but I was holding possession and creating chance after chance. Just couldn't finish them. That's with 3 of their remaining 9 players carrying a knock!

Season 2011/12, Celtic: I bought Salomon Kalou from Chelsea for a small amount, and I went to the CL finals, where ManU was better 3-2. I defeated Genoa, Sevilla and Bayern before the finals. Now I'm playing season 2012/13 with Celtic team looking like this (4-4-2 Attacking):
Boruc - Wilkshire, O'Shea, O'Dea, Mulgrew - Cregg, Brown, McGeady, Kalou - McDonald, Anier.
Bench: Fox, Mancienne, Gaughan, Lindgren, Maloney, McFadden, Dauda.

Wilkshire came from Dinamo Moscow, Mulgrew from Aberdeen, Cregg from Falkirk, Anier from Flora, Mancienne from Chelsea, Lindgren from Ajax, McFadden from Birmingham, Dauda somewhere from Sweden, I forgot.

I went Stuttgart now, and I am going to endevour to stick with this one instead of quitting after I lose a game, as usual. Bought that Hungarian lad from PSV for about £4.2 million and I've got Saturn or Rijeka in the Euro Vase. Trying to sell Mario Gomez for big bucks to fund more signings, but no ones willing to give me £20 million :(

Started a game with Aberdeen, dont hate me!

No first window budgets for any club and they do have a weak squad.

    Signed

    Edgar Davids
    Sander Westerveld
    Djibril Diawara
    Robbie Winters

    on free transfers

Coaching, training and youth facilities are very very average. Scouting is virtually non existent

    BUT currently

    P6 W5 D1 L0 F7 A0

Drew with Rangers at home, beat Celtic at CP too. Its gonna be a tough first season!

Finished early today so I stuck on FM.

Cruised through the groups of the Europa, only to get Werder Bremen in the next round. Also doing well in the league, sitting in 2nd place just behind Barca.

January is coming up, I'm signing a reserve keeper cos the current one is *. And I'm selling Henrique, cos that one never really worked out.

Kieran doesn't Spain have annoying restrictions in terms of transfers / reserve squad or is that something I dreamed up from a long time ago?

    No no you're right.

You don't really have any control over the B Squad. They tend to sign whoever they want so it's pointless having players in that squad.

And you have a maximum of 25 players in the first team squad, only 3 of which can be non-EU players.

I don't mind that though cos it means you have to manage the squad quite carefully. Argentinians and Brazilians only take two years to get citizenship so it's not that bad.

Ah I see. Sounds fairly restrictive as I quite like maintaining a good reserve squad..

I was half thinking of taking on Espanyol in FM10 - Naka's new club, Barcelonas second club, brand new 40,000 seater stadium - think with a good long term plan they could be a force.

Surely La Ligua will be a nightmare though this year what with Real Madrid and Barca having some of the best players in the World. Sevilla nae bad either.

Good players at Espanyol. Naka, De la Pena, Verdu all good midfielders.

La Liga will be hard anyway, with the restrictions and the bigger teams. You start with Barca, Real, Athletico, Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal all ahead of you (depending who you go).

Then some of the teams have one or two star players to build around, or get takeovers and they might jump ahead, its hard.

But I like having to manage the numbers in the squad.
