after 3 succesful seasons at celtic , with many good memories including helder postiga and dani aquino upfront both getting 100 goals between them in 2seasons :icon_mrgreen:, i got offered the barcelona job , 2 and a half months in and i have signed

    miralem pjanic - 30mil
    christian chivu - 10mil
    sergio aguero - 60mil
    marquinhos - 17mil

i rotate my midfield quite a bit , mostly with gago for pirlo, xavi for pjanic and guardado for marquinhos , hopefully this team can bring me more success , maybe even a champions league trophy :icon_mrgreen:

In my game Gerrard just became the Liverpool manager in 2024 lol. He used to be one of my coaches at Celtic, before going to Reading as a manager.

Didnt finish the season where I would get into Dempsey Park, absolutely no challenge left in that game for me.

Gonna start with Arminia Bielefeld, no starting budgets and I have to try and avoid relegation

Just popped onto FM09 for the first time in ages.

Preparing for yet another season with Betis, desperately trying to finish above 7th for a change.

I love having to qualify for the Europa League, you get to play the most random teams.

I got drawn against a side called Varteks. Brilliant!

EDIT: And now I get to play Anorthosis Famagusta

Didnt do too well with Bielefeld but I didnt like the fact that I didnt have a reserve league either, so many unfit players.

Gonna start ANOTHER game and choose a team from Ligue 1 and again, not first window budgets. I dont think I'll ever play a game again with a first window budget

I dipped back into the Dortmund game but I'm getting a bit bored to be honest. I put so much effort into signing and developing the best German youth and they are letting me down!

Just beat Barca 1-0 in Germany in the 1st knockouts of the CL. Kierrison with a well placed shot on the fourth minute and we clung on to the end. Hoping to finish the second leg tonight, probably gonna go 4-5-1 counter attack in the Nou Camp. Not too optimistic at the moment......

I definitely think i signed the right players in the summer.

Kabore and N'Koulou add much needed pace and power, and Suarez has slotted in effortlessly on the left.

I changed Keirrisons role slightly and it seems to have worked, as he has started the season very well. Also, I managed to fend off interest from the big clubs to keep hold of my best players.

The team seems to be keeping the ball a lot better and are barely giving the opposition a sniff at goal - hope that continues. They are creating so many chances as well which is encouraging.

    Results so far...

    Betis 3-0 Varteks
    Varteks 0-1 Betis

    Anorthosis 0-6 Betis
    Betis 5-0 Anorthosis

    Villarreal 0-1 Betis
    Betis 2-0 Malaga

So not conceeded a goal yet, and have a 100% record. Marquinhos hasn't even played this year because of injury so hopefull things will go up another level when he comes back.

Hopefully I can * a CL place this year.

Kieran could you explain to me the reserve setup in Spain

I'm in control of Malaga, the B team has no fixture list and my assistant is in control of friendlies, contracts are handled by him and player sales are handled by him.

I understand that B teams operate on their own but I'm concerned that there is no fixtures for them. Whats your experience of this as I'm not used to my reserve team having no fixtures

Not sure how it works for Malaga, but Betis play in the Second division B4. My assistant is in control and they just seem to sign their own players which is annoying.

Have you mucked about with the team settings? I know I can take control of contracts and player sales of the B team but I dunno if that includes signing of players

Yeah I have control over contracts, but the assistant still seems to be able to buy players.

In an earlier patch they would give utterly * players daft wages like £40k p/w.

Hmmm, not liking these leagues where there are loads of reserve players and no fixtures for them to play.

I might just start with another SPL side and I hope that I dont get taken over!

I need a piece of advice.

I'm playing with St. Mirren currently and I'm in season 2011/2012. I have bunch of youngsters who sadly won't get much chance in my first team because of many players who are much better than him. I'm in EL (beaten Bayern at home 2:1, after being 0:1 down:icon_mrgreen:) and I'm always finishing 3rd in SPL, so that doesn't really allow me to put my youngsters often in first team.

Sometimes when I play Falkirk, Hamilton and other * teams I put something like 5 youngsters in the team. But that's just about it, they mostly play in reserves and U19 squad. I have some Dutch lad who I brought for 60 or 70k and he's dubbed as new Clarence Seedorf. I also have Scottish midfielder who is dubbed as next Graeme Souness.

I wouldn't like them to fade in my squad, so I was considering a loan deal. But where do I send them!? Lower Scottish leagues and even teams from SPL are not going to give them much improvement. First team yes, but not improvement. I was thinking of some feeder club and this patch allows me to choose any team from around the world, but I don't know whether they would accept to be my feeder club. So far I have Airdrie United and Clyde as my feeder clubs, but I only send some poorer youngsters there who don't really have much potential.

If you're facilities are significantly better i would just keep them with you at St. Mirren and give them the odd game as you are doing.

Sending them away will get them games, but consider the quality of opposition/coaches/facilities etc etc.

Enjoying a very good start with Betis, haven't conceeded a goal in 7 European games this year, and haven't conceeded at home in the league.

    Also, beat Barcelona 3-0 :icon_mrgreen:
