Mr Q provided me with the hot tip of a German forward called Holtby. He is a class act and became my second main target of the transfer window. They were wanting £14.5 mill for him and I only had £9m to spend. Next thing you know MoN and Villa are sniffing around him and had a bid accepted! So I done what I had to do - put in a £15m bid (accepted) and offered 70k/week when he only wanted 30k and said he'd be a key player...

Being the end of the window, I delayed the transfer and delayed (didn't have the funds!!) until the last few minutes when it all fell through. O'Neill didn't have the time (hour or so) until the window closed to re-negotiate a deal so Holtby stays where he is until Christmas at least! Muhaha!

 

decided to jump ship from Celtic. 5 trophies in 2 seasons, no European success though

Moved to Roma and got a £120million budget!! Stole my best 2 players from Celtic and trying to get Gerrard but Liverpool wont sell.

Never had this kind of money to spend before! Watch me blow it (and my reputation) and ill be out on my * by xmas!!

Seriously, I rejected offer from Celtic when I was manager of Motherwell and I did a pretty good job there, became fav personel of club.

You may become club's legend, don't give up just yet.

 

I was considered a legendary manager but not even on the Hibs favoured personnel list.

I've delayed by a week and rejected Hibs offers of a new contract, they wouldnt offer any more than 17,750 p/w

Tell me, what difference does it make if you get 1k or 100k per week? It's just making it hard to negotiate with the club, in my opinion.

 

Harder to sack you

 

How's that? If you get more cash weekly, it's harder for you to be sacked? Don't understand that.

 

To sack a manager, you need to pay them the entire amount of the remainder of their contract. If you are being paid more, they'd be reluctant to offer you a huge settlement just to get rid of you then have to offer more compensation to offer another person the job.

 

Oh. Cheers for clearing that up. I always accept lowest offer, just to sign contract as soon as possible and want it to be painless. I'll keep an eye on that in future.

I wouldnt get sucked in by labels tbh, he's average

 

Ray Clarke rates him as a quality signing and says he has the potential to be better than Skjelbred.
