    * the union jack, bring on independence, currently we have a leader ( The Queen) who has no power what so ever and is told what to do by toffs.

really? i've seen the saltire flying but cant say i ever noticed the union jack. i was just making a point to the guy who replied to my post about celtic being a british club whether he likes it or not and therefor should fly the union jack whether he approves or not

As far as I am aware the Union flag and the Saltire are flown above the main stand on match days. This was certainly the case way back.I doubt there has been a change to this, but I think we will be all checking the next time we have a home game:icon_mrgreen:

this thread is starting to get silly, i hate seeing union jacks in belfast as much as anyone trust me, but what has that got to do with the union jack being flown at parkhead? scotland is part of britain so why shouldn't the british flag be flown? celtic have a very proud irish heritage but they are still based in britain

we would still have allies. i'm sure if we were invaded, US, Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany etc. would back us. Plus, the days of nation on nation conflict is over, it will be all aboout Guerilla warfare with Islamic militants for the next few generations

how could they forget they're part of britain? if theres no reason for the union jack to be flown then why should the tricolour be flown? in one of my earlier posts i suggested that the tricolour, saltire and union jack be flown at parkhead to make all feel welcome. we're not a republican club or a political party and should stay impartial, so why not represent scotland, britain and ireland at parkhead?

so although we we`re started by a catholic priest for the poor catholic people of glasgow (irish imigrants) and have flown the tri colour all our days . now because the huns are getn shown up for the bigots they really are we should stop acting like we are embarresed of our history and start having a wee bit of fn pride in ourselves and celebrate being catholic and celtic !!!!!

people that go to parkhead would feel welcome without the uj,i agree with u bout tri colour and saltire, but the union jack no way,the reason for the tri colour is cos its the country were brother walfrid was from, the saltire cos its a scottish club, why the union jack has to be there dosent stand up to me,were a football club ,we dont need to get into wavin union jacks at parkhead when we dont have to r the majority dont want to

people who go to parkhead would feel welcome without the union jack but the point i was making is would people who dont go to parkhead feel welcome? flying a foreign flag, the tricolour, while not flying the flag of the country where the club is from would alienate some people and make outsiders think we're a club solely for people who consider themselves scottish or irish nationalists. it gives the club a bad image, why would supporters possibly have a problem with flying their national flag? i'm not suggesting every fan stands there waving union jacks, as someone pointed out earlier the union jack does fly over celtic park anyway

how could the tri colour possibly b a foreign flag when its the flag of the people who founded the club, and the union jack is not,i understand were u comin from but for me that flag dosent represent celtic r the history r the traditon of our club,i understand why its flown because the club r in britain but that dosent mean ive to agree with it,foreign flags like the union jack are flown in r country mo cara

you're absolutely right, you dont have to agree with it but we do have to accept it. hope i havn't come across as a unionist or anything because i'm advocating flying the union jack, we are a club founded by an irishman for irishmen but we have to respect that no matter what celtic are a british club. fuair siad bas ar son soairsie na hEireann:celt_2::50:
