Ive never seen it but I found that out today.

Its funny that people can suspend their disbelief to accept a shape shifting alien, but not enough to accept it being in woman form!

It doesnt bother me as I dont watch it but I am a big James Bond fan and I find the idea of a black James Bond to be quite silly and unnecessary.

Never seen Dr Who and never will.

This just feels like something running out of ideas and trying to appeal to a certain demographic for a cash grab though. Basically like the new Ghostbusters.
The whole SJW/PC culture is going to destroy creativity when it comes to movies and tv shows.

I get where you're coming from but surely in the case of Doctor Who, at least, the opposite is true? 12 actors have played the Doctor, all of them male. Now that a woman is portraying that role, I'd say that opens up new opportunities and the possibility of different creative ideas.

I agree with you when it comes to stuff like Ghostbusters though. That was just a case of remaking a classic and replacing the men with women. There was no need for that film to ever exist. If the writer/director was simply wanting to give girls a "female hero to look up to" - make something original. Not Melissa McCarthy relying on her weight to be "funny".

All the reactions I've seen on my twitter timeline is people saying the shows went downhill badly and this is them basically ran out of ideas.

The people saying a female doctor opens up new possibilities and creative ideas are the same people saying that it doesn't matter what gender the doctor is because they're an alien. It sounds like pointing out the fact she's a female on the show will count as a new idea and creative.

I prefer female content when it does actually give a different point of view and gives different possibilities. Ellie in The Last Of Us, Laura/X-23 in Logan, Furiosa in Mad Max, Lisbeth Salander etc.

Isn't the Doctor's sidekick a woman? Why not make the sidekick a male or an animal if it's just for more creative possibilities? It just feels like more bowing to do SJW/PC pressure. I've already seen people moaning that it's another white doctor now :56:

Fully expect Jane Bond to be along soon enough as well.

They've ran out of ideas so what better way to try something new than making a radical change? Albeit not that radical. It's a woman not a * dog. I just find it utterly pathetic that anyone has an issue with it.

The bit in bold...aye, and what? It's bang on. The Doctor is a genderless, shapeshifting alien that flies through time and space in a * police box. Just think about it.

Why the * are people up in arms about this genderless, alien now being a female?

The Doctor has had a male sidekick for a wee while, so that's been done.

It's really, really sad that it's even an issue.
