    LA Confidential

Second time seeing it, albeit I’d forgotten most of it. Amazing film. The cast is different class. Shame he’s a wrong’un because Kevin Spacey is easily one of my favourite actors.

The Beekeeper. * terrible movie. Terrible acting. Terrible script. Terrible.

1/10. Not as bad as The Meg 2 but that's me done with any Statham movies.

It's not brilliant and it is completely absurd, but I was able to have fun with the ride. I wouldn't mind sitting through it again, even with it's faults.

Oh and btw, don't judge this based on the trailer - it's very misleading.

Love this movie. Easily one of my favourites. The scenes with Pearce and Crowe are brilliant

    The Zone of Interest

Absolutely haunting. The soundscape alone is nightmarishly unforgettable. One of the best of 2023/24.

    Madam Webb

    Utter garbage. Avoid.

Remember seeing it in the early 90s.
    Bit creepy.
Avoided using red telephone box ever again after watching it.

    Dune Part 2

Epic. I don’t think there’s a better director at building a universe than Denis Villeneuve. It’s just so believable - at no point does Arrakis seem unrealistic, and that’s with space witches and giant sandworms hanging around. It’s real, and gritty, and the polar opposite of something arcadey like Star Wars, especially the Disney variants. That’s a big testament to the directing and the cinematography.

I think Dune as a book is ridiculously difficult to translate to film, so I expect a lot of confused audience members. Like part 1 I expect that I’ll enjoy it more every time I watch it. But if you’re familiar with the lore or willing to read into it you’ll love it. It’s not perfect - the final act is rushed and Christopher Walken had no presence as the emperor (which is surprising as he’s a great actor). But I’m excited to see how far they can take it with sequels. The story does get weird at a point in the later novels.

    9.5/10

Didn’t think it looked like my thing but I saw a trailer for it at the cinema and it looked, as you say, epic. Seems like one you need to see at the pictures. I assume you need to see part 1 first?
