Went to see this in 4Dx- absolutely brilliant.
Fights on top of trains have been done to death but thought the bit when the bridge collapsed was superb.
An interesting storyline as well, can’t wait till the next instalment.

Watched Oppenheimer at the weekend. Another movie that doesn't match the hype. Would have been better as a Sunday afternoon drama. If they cut about an hour off it. Surprisingly dull for a Nolan movie.

Blood Diamond - Had watched it about 15 years ago but rewatched it again last night. Quality film, forgot how good it was.

I kind of disagree. visually I have no idea if it needs the IMAX and all that side of it, because a lot of the movie is people talking etc, but I was thoroughly engrossed. The first act and even through the second it is setting the stall out, which then allowed for the way that Nolan was able to amp it up another notch and again and again, sustaining the tension at times incredibly well, even while cutting and reflecting on those earlier parts in context. Which matches the narrative of pressure building up and up and up and then ! ...and repeat. Not just with the bomb but thereafter also.

Sometimes phyisically/visually and sometimes dramatically, but was impressed with that side of things.

I didn't like the way that Truman was portrayed in that one scene though, came across as very cavalier, and how he was talked about at others, which was not in keeping with the character of the man at all and really had nothing to do with the Man hattan Project until he became President in April 1945 (he only even found out about it after became VP a a month or so before) but it is understandable for dramatic purposes.

To me, it didn't feel a 3hr movie, but going into it, and even looking back I didn't feel like it needed to be a 3hr movie either and there are some parts that could've been trimmed from it. That said, would that same cranking up and sustain of tension have worked? Idk, but I get what Nolan was going for with that (similiar to what he did with Dunkirk).

Wonder if he will make a 3rd WWII film in this same style? Would make for an interersting trilogy if that is the case.

I don't see why it was to be seen in 70mm wide-screen. It just wasn't that kind of movie. Unless it was for the Atomic testing. If it was, it failed as it was a damp squib. I get the biographical aspect of it, but it just wasn't exciting enough. Too much made of the "trial", which wasn't really a trial. He also wasn't a nice person so hard to feel anything. Cheated on his wives, dropped his colleagues in with the Commie hunters, even gave his new born child away! Outwardly he gave little acknowledgement of regret over Hiroshima or Nagasaki, though Nolan tried to upsell an inner torment.

For a Nolan movie, I was disappointed. The soundtrack was bland and even some of the dialogue was hard to make out at times (quite a few folk I know mentioned this).

Cut out 45 minutes and it's a decent Sunday night movie. I didn't feel there was any tension in it and was genuinely disappointed in it.

Wee chill day off for me and the Mrs so starting the Mission Impossible movies. First one is a bit dated but may as well go from the start, remember having the 3rd one on dvd and loved it but haven't seen any of the newer ones.

Looking forward to seeing how the stunts and technology progresses through the years lol.

    Just watched THE HITCHER.

    Great movie from the 80's.

Rutger Hauer Absolute steals this movie and is probably his best. C Thomas Howell was great in it as well.

One of the best 80's movies that also hasn't dated.

Watched Barbie to see what the fuss was about. Actually decent but a tad bit overhyped, though I get why a lot of women will love it.

    7/10.

watched Barbie tonight 9/10. Lots of cheap humour, double entaundrers and smart jokes but actually quite deep in places too and very clever. Lots of kids in the cinema but I have a feeling that they wouldnt get a lot of the jokes or the actual main themes of the movie.

Barbie was really good. Great cast and a very good director so expected it to be good but it was better than I imagined.

Ryan Gosling is incredible in it.

I thought Barbie had its moments; certain scenes where the entire audience was laughing. But there were also parts of it that felt boring and predictable to me. No more than a 6/10.

Basically a conversation between Jonah Hill and his therapist where they discuss some of the tools that he gives to his patients. Thought it was interesting and well worth the watch.

Just watched The Big Short for a second time on Netflix. First time around, I thought it was an ok 6.5 but on second viewing, I liked it more: 7.5

Breaking Glass had Hazel O’Connor as singer in a band with Phil Daniels (of quadrophenia) as the agent. Here is favourite song from film - Eighth Day
