Quirky and darkly dramedy from the writer/director or In Bruges & Three Billboards, set in an island off the coast of Ireland, in the early 1920's, as a interesting commentary on the seemingly senselessness nature of conflict, with the story serving as a wider metaphor. Will be sitting through this one again.

    Black Adam

Made me mentally check out about halfway through with complete apathy for the characters, too much action that made the film boring because of such a thin story development. The action doesnt really enhance the story either... It's just there virtually non stop to the point of being something akin to cinematic white noise.

Maybe it's me, but it just served to further prove that I am becoming increasingly disenchanted with the whole superhero genre. Not that it was really ever my thing, but it's reached that saturation point where it lacks any sort of reason want to invest in these.

Decent enough movie, made better by the fact its a true story.

    7/10

Interesting you say that about the superhero genre because I pretty much checked out mentally after Endgame. Need a long break from them I feel.

Same. This was just the latest re-enforcement of that. Shang-Chi and even Spiderman and The Batman were all ok but not astonishing... it's been all downhill since Endgame, and even that was on the downside from Infinity War.

Thought I would treat the wife.
    Nice movie.
Quite funny in bits although predictable in others.

Just sat through the new version of All Quiet earlier - it's fine for what it is, but to call it an adaptation is a very loose indeed, to say the least. Apart from the title, the characters of Paul & Kat (and even Paul's differed substantially) there really is little that resembles the novel or the previous adaptations and filled with needless fictions

For anyone offput by this being in German, it also has an English dub & AD.

Yeah it’s a bit of a misnomer, I think they just wanted to make a First World War movie but didn’t think it would sell internationally so slapped on “All Quiet…” for the name to draw people in. There was only 1 scene in it that was from the book I think

There were a couple of scenes that did nod to the source material. For instance, it wasn't just one of them that went off with the girls, the crater scene in no man's land with the French soldier death and Paul carrying Kat but that was about all.

Anna Kendrick. The most beautiful smile I've ever seen. Funnily enough just watched 50/50. Seen it before. Excellent

I've spent the majority of my life reading comic books and when 2008 came, the start of the MCU, it was a * dream for me, as many others. All we had, on the big screen up to that point was the X-Men, Batman, Superman and Spiderman.

Since Endgame, I've only really enjoyed 3 projects in the MCU. Shang-Chi, Spiderman-No way home and Loki, the TV series. The other TV series were ok but nothing spectacular. I just depside the way they are going with the MCU right now. Silly, comedy superhero films with some action sequences.

Away from the DCEU, I really liked where DC were heading with individual projects like Joker and The Batman. Really dark and gritty films that were totally different. I'd like to see that sort of genre expanded on a bit more in the Superhero genre in general. Fans are becoming sick and tired of the funny/silly side of superhero films.

Smile. No bad horror. Seen a few horrors in recent weeks I've actually liked, new Hellraiser, Barbarian and this. Not absolutely amazing but better than the usual pish.
