Got around to catching Malignant last night.
I so wanted to enjoy this being a James Wan fan. - there are nods to Giallo, Argento and probably even Cronenberg, 80's monster movies etc but it was let down on numerous levels and really style over substance.
The police station section was crazy fun, but felt out of place in a monster movie and pushed the film towards more cheesy action sequences. The ending was horrific and not in the way it was intended.

Would prefer that Wan goes back to atmospheric movies and cut the flashy stuff out. He's spent too much time fannying about with Fast and Furious.

I've just down my 80's list and it makes my Top 5. I wouldn't argue with anyone who ranked it 1 as on another day I could easily do that as well. Those rank downs can change day to day imo as I've looked back at some of my previous lists and found myself thinking did I vote that film above that film ..

Edit Ffs it's - done not down :52:

Watched Spotlight again. Man oh man. 10/10 all day long. Thought the guy who played the editor was outstanding in it. Schrieber? And Mark Ruffalo too.

Moonfall 2/10 Pile of pish, made it an hour and 10 into this guff.

Used to hate switching off films before the end but just losing patience with some of them these days, can't be bothered when I can see it's going absolutely nowhere, like this one was.

Was telling a guy in the work about that movie yesterday! It's a weird one to try and explain to someone. Class movie!
