Gonna go see Suicide Squad tonight. I thought the trailers looked ok however going by most of the reviews it might be a long night, at least I can go for a McDonalds after it though.

Guys just watched a movie there that totally blew me away

    Land of Mine

A danish/german movie.....so subtitles....but whatever you do dont let that put you off.

A group of young 12-18 yr old german prisoners are forced to clear the danish beaches after the war has just finished. They are starved and mentally tortured throughout.

I have seen many movies throughout the years like Goodfellas/Shawshank etc......but this has been one of the best i have seen, utterly stunning acting, set pieces and haunting music, and will have you glued to the seat watching it....

Do yourself a favour and watch this...unmissable

Especially if your a war film guy,

Suicide Squad was terrible, really terrible.

To be fair, the actors & actresses that were cast looked quite good but the writing was * awful. Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn were the main focus for most of the film, then it was all about the fire conjuring guy at the end. Carla Eyebrows got a lot of bad press about her acting talents but she was decent as the human side to her character but her Enchantress side was a bit low rent.

Its probably the most bored I have ever felt watching a film, especially one with comic book guys in it. Jared Leto was a decent enough Joker but it felt like he was only there to flesh out Harley Quinn.

I can 100% understand why Tom Hardy backed out of the film.

Highlight of the film was when they were introducing the characters to us and Dirty Deeds by AC/DC was used for Captain Boomerang.

Zack Snyder had the audacity to say the Marvel films hadn't been very good, well sorry Zack but DC hasn't gotten anywhere near what Marvel have done so far.

That sounds like they could have done with a bullet up the * :smiley-laughing002:

Watched Deadpool the other night, best superhero film I've ever seen.

You've never seen The Dark Knight?

That's like comparing Susan Boyle to Jennifer Lawrence.

Deadpool is a comedy * take, no more than decent.

Really don't get the hype with with Deadpool. It was okay but so mang jokes fell flat and made me cringe.

Oh * aye I forgot about the Dark Knight, Christian Bale is the best superhero for sure. Probably my favourite actor how could I forget that.

I just loved the 'anti hero' aspect of Deadpool.

The best thing about The Dark Knight was the joker, Heath Ledger made that film special. The batman trilogy was brilliant but the Dark Knight is on another level.
That's the only thing DC have done better than Marvel, but Marvel are great at putting comedy into the script. Ironman, Captain America, Avengers, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy all great films.

Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel there. It was pretty decent, the cinematography and ensemble cast were good and some of it was funny, a lot of it fell flat. It was entertaining enough but definitely not worth of an Oscar nomination in my opinion compared to some of the other films that didn't get nominated that year.

I don't know, maybe I didn't "get" it. It's one of those I might watch again sometime in the future to see if I feel any different about it.

    Star Trek: Beyond

As someone who liked the previous two movies, I really enjoyed this. It's just a simple, fun, summer movie that seems comfortable in its own skin. It definitely has some flaws (the story isn't the greatest, the pacing is a bit off and some parts were a poorly explained) but I just couldn't help but like

The acting was pretty decent, although there's obviously a bit of cheesiness which I suppose is to be expected. Karl Urban was probably the standout performance wise, although he's generally quite good in most things anyway.

Overall, I'd probably give it a solid 8/10.

I just think it was that off the wall it can't be put in the same sort of class as the Batman films.

No. Was when I lived in Glasgow and had a cineworld unlimited card. Went myself as I couldn't wait. Then with the gf pretending not to have seen it, then with her again. Then we took her wee sister. Twice with mates who hadn't seen it and the other two, I was just killing time.

Suicide Squad was an odd one for me.

Found it more enjoyable then Batman V Superman, but I actually think most of the casting was just wrong which is weird to say given how I found it enjoyable in patches.

Will Smith as Deadshot was to nice and caring, basically he was too Will Smith to be a decent Deadshot.

    Robbie as Harley was good.

Leto as Joker, can't say I could handle a feature film with him as a main villian he actually annoyed me all the weird snorty growl struggling to breath laugh bollocks was doing my nut in.

Killer Croc was a wasted opportunity he could have been a surprise package, but the look they gave him and fact he had about 2 lines was *.

Jai Courtney suffered the same fate as Croc, I thought with him being cast it doomed the movie but tbf he wasn't that bad and actually had me laughing with the fire gag at Diablo.

Diablo was good played the part well and certainly came out looking the best for me at the end of the movie.

Robocop as Rick Flag was pointless, duller then my * life of which I have none.

The only good thing about the plot was the twist about who they had to after, which after the events of BVS begs the question why the * they were the ones assembled to do it.

But like I say it's weird because I did enjoy the movie more then I did BVS :97:
