He’s a CB that can play CDM now, that’s been established. He’s a very good one too.

 

But my point still stands we will get no money for him when he can sign a pre contract

 

Clubs will offer him good money in wages and he will end up going in the summer, can’t see anyone paying 6/7 million for him when they can get him for free

 

People forget that Ajer is ONLY 20. Twenty years old ffs. That’s a baby in football especially for a centre half who usually have their best years from 27-32.

I think some of the support have been a bit harsh on Ajer recently. He didn’t put a foot wrong last season, started this season well too but had a bad game vs AEK and a poor run of form after that, lost a bit of confidence and was stuck with Jack Hendry beside him. Then he got injured. He will be a top class centre back with the right coaching!

I hope he comes back into the team soon. Boyata has been decent this year but he’s a very overrated footballer, plus his face * me off

 

The main part of that is he played a lot of games in next to Hendry in his poor run of form, saw such a difference when Boyata came back in. That’s when Ajer looked comfortable again just * luck he got ill then injured once Boyata came back in.

Ajer is our main centre back for next season alongside a new experienced quality centre back....hopefully.

 

On Ajer just needs to learn how to use his strength properly, gets pushed off the ball too much and it shouldn’t happen..

Boyata- We’ll it depends on the cash, Fulham are still crying out for players who can defend so me way get a decent enough fee.. nowhere near the 12m quoted for him tho..

We need to add in Jan at RB & CB..

 

Aye I've never had any worries about him, got to appreciate we're never going to afford already established with european experiance and most of all players with a winning mentality.

Hendry freaks me right out and when I heard he was 23 I just sighed. He's good going forward but he's also prone to lapses in concentration as who were we playing when he lost the ball on the half way line nearly and our defence was all over the place.

If Ajer makes a mistake I accept it, cause if we manage to get him to sign a long contract which is a gamble, don't know yet if he's going to turn into the high class defender it looks like he will be.

But I think we need a good quality defence coach because we've got players who can do well if they're just shown how to keep formation and to always be aware of their fellow defenders so we don't get caught out.

Broony closing up spaces defenders leave is like a masterclass of always being away, the amount of concentration it takes must be incredible but when he's on it he owns our whole half. I only mention Broony as an example our defenders should watch, It is quite amazing how much experienced players can affect the game with the least amount of movement,

Do like big Ajer's runs though and it's so frustrating when he looks up about 25 yards out and there's no runners, once we see him move into a huge space we should be offering him lots of options cause no one expects an attack too come from our box so quckly,

When is he back?

Celtic defender Filip Benkovic has revealed that he has a clause in his contract which could lead to him being recalled by Leicester in January.

The 21-year-old defender joined the club on the final day of the window in a loan deal just two weeks after signing for the English side, but should there be an offer for Harry Maguire in January it could change the complexion on his time at Celtic.

“I signed until the end of the season but there is a clause in the contract which means that Leicester can bring me back in January,” he explained.


So far I have spoken with some people at the club but they must wait and see what their situation is in the winter – maybe they will sell some players, I don’t know.

“Because of that I may have to wait until the last minute of the transfer window to find out what is happening – just like the last one.”

Leicester's decision to reject an offer for Harry Maguire led to Benkovic heading to Glasgow, but despite the Maguire signing a new deal with the Foxes, further interest from Manchester United could yet materialise in January.

“When you hear they reject £80 million for Harry Maguire what more can you say?" said Benkovic.

“They also spent £20 million on a Turkish player and I think they are looking to make a new team with a new generation after the earlier success of the team


Probably they will sell someone – I don’t know. But I will wait for my chance and I must be patient.

“There has been some talk about the winter window, but I don’t know.

“I know he has signed a new contract for five more years. I only know he is happy there but I also know that he’s a player being looked at by top clubs and one day he may move to one of them.

 

That would be * to lose him in January, have a feeling it'll happen.

 

It says he'll go if Harry Maguire leaves Leicester but Maguire just signed a 5 year deal last month and he said he's not going anywhere this season so I doubt it.

 

Regardless of whether he goes or not, we need to sign our own quality cb in the January window.

 

We need two mate.. can’t tske the chance on losing Boyata and Benkovic.. if a late bit comes in for McGuire they will recall him at the last minute.. dreadful state of affairs that could cost us dearly.

 

Contracts mean nothing mate, if a desperate Man U come knocking with an offer they can’t refuse..

 

I expect they will buy one in each window. They know they have to bring extra in and after what happened with Jozo and Hendry getting regular starts I doubt you will see them risk it.

 

We need two in Jan mate..
