supposedly the CIA were going to use castro as the 'opposition' to overthrow bastita, then castro flipped and became a communist.

one tyrant was substituted for another, castro killed and persecuted hundreds of thousands of Cubans and put gays and blacks in labor camps.

 

Funny how he was romanticised by left wing poofs. Fact was he was an oppressive commie dictator.

Theres a reason the west did not invade Cuba, even though Castro * the west of more so than Saddam and Gaddafi ever could. Desert countrys are easy pickings, they have plenty of resources like oil and gas to plunder. And all they have to do to get these resources is wipe out the enemies military from the air. The enemy cant hide in the desert so its easy pickings for thousands of Nato bombers and fighter jets. It is not a coincidence that we only go to war with sand dwellers. Desert country equals easy money to the powers that be. Now imagine trying to invade somewhere like Cuba with its thick swamps and jungle. The air support would not be as dominating in this kind of enviroment and the troops would have to wade in and go toe to toe. It would be a * nightmare on an epic scale, it would be Vietnam part 2.

I am not saying he had the right to treat gays that way, everybody is human and Castro is no saint. But Castros crimes are minuscule compared to the so called free world. And Castro has admitted to and apologized for wrongs that he has done. You have to remember that he would not have survived very long with the USA breathing down his neck if he did not make some ruthless decisons.

 

the only way castro survived was to cosy up to the soviets. 'communism' was good for fidel and his 1% and for the other 99% disastrous.
