Thought we competed well until their first right on half time ,which was a * then the first red basically killed any chance we had of getting anything.
Doesn't get us points or anything but I'm quite pleased we didn't get a proper mauling after going down to 9.
Thought the ref * us and they were dirty cheating * but we are still not streetwise or too nice or whatever you want to call it.
Frustrating as * though, Palma's dive which I was a bit annoyed at him for is the kinda thing we get given against us and the other team are all applauding each other for. The late tackle on Taylor that wasn't even a booking while we end up with 2 sent off. The recruitment I don't even need to go into, we were already weaker than last season and then depleted and then end up 2 men down, proper scraping the barrel stuff.

They * were definitely practising their diving in training. A couple of them even tried the exact same tactic of running into Scales then pretending that he'd elbowed them.

At it all game as well. I remember when it was a shock to see Porto doing it 20 years ago, now every 2 bit side goes into Europe with 3 Tom Daley's up front.

It's something we really need to work on. No point in being proud or stubborn about it. It's part of the game now.

I thought the game was really scrappy first half. The goal changed the game.

I thought the penalty was very soft and it certainly didn't merit a second yellow card.

I'll need to go back and watch the Holm red card. I thought that was very harsh as well, but others are saying it was a red.

I think we'll beat them at home if we keep our cool.

I agree tbh but you just know if we do it,it gets waved off and the * in the other team just takes the ball or our player gets booked for diving.

This team and squad isn't good enough for this level. Full stop.

Just treat it like our board do, any point is a bonus.

Well that's what happens if we don't strengthen a squad.

Some players stood up tonight, but overall aren't of the required quality for this level.

But if we don't invest in a proper left back, improve with a standout central midfielders replace Jota with that required quality and supply us with an equal striker to Kyogo - then yeah, this is gonna keep happening time and time again.

Thank * though, we've got £70m in the bank, just in case we don't make it to the UCL to get embarrassed like this time and time again.

No harm to the lads that played as they gave their all as always, at least that’s never in doubt, but how anyone can watch that and say that’s an acceptable team line up and subsequent performance is beyond me.

We are miles below the required standard. * miles. The frustrating thing is that we have the resources and capabilities to compete at this level, particularly in this group.

We just refuse to capitalise. Same old story.

Last night was always going to happen, when we continue to buy young inexperienced players, how are we ever expected to compete.

Still, we have money sitting in the bank so all is good.

We were close to competing last season. Then we sold giakamoukis, juranovic, jota, haksabanovic, starfelt and all of a sudden our strength in depth disappears. we get a few injuries and all of a sudden we are playing our reserves in the champions league.

we have also let players like Ben Doak go without him even getting much playing time in the first time. Our ability to retain players is absolutely criminal

    On reflection the morning after.

    The positives were

    - we settled into the game well at the start
    - we limited them whilst it was 11 v 11 they had very few chances
    - we managed to force them into mistakes giving us good situations
    - our shape out of possession was largely really good.
    - whilst 11 v 11, Matt O’Riley and Alastair Johnston were every bit as good as anything they had in their team.

    The negatives
    - when we got those good situations our use of the ball was abysmal again Hatate being the main culprit but not the only one.
    - Our general use of the ball is too slack, way too many stray passes under little pressure.
    - Too many of our players lack the physical requirements to compete at that level and it is evident. Greg Taylor is the prime example here but even McGregor was bypassed far too easily last night as was Hatate.
    - We didn’t create anything off note all night really other than winning the ball high up the pitch a couple of times
    - the first goal again last night is the next in a long line of very tame goals to have lost at this level. If you want to do something at this level this simply needs to stop, we can’t go through a game without losing one of these in Europe.
    - Last season we felt a couple of players away from being respectable at this level, this season I would say we feel another couple of players away.
    - Feyenoord weren’t good last night and it was an opportunity missed to take at least a point. Granted poor referring had a large part to play in that, failing to award us a penalty and the one he gave them and sending Lagerbielke off was a joke.

Anyway we need a result on Saturday so better get ourselves ready for that. Rodgers record on the plastic pitches is poor.

I thought we competed well and matched them for the most part. There were 2 big decisions the ref and VAR got wrong that changed the game.
We should have had a pen right at the start when Maeda was fouled - I can't believe more isn't being made of it. Just because it's the first few mins of the game doesn't mean it doesn't count. The defender didn't touch the ball but he does get the man making Maeda kick the ball straight out the park - it was a clear penalty.
Then he gives them a pen and sends our player off for something defenders do 10 times in every game - hold a striker off with their arm.
If he gets those decisions right it's a completely different game.
Always seems to happen to us though. Hard to work out why.

This is the key word for me. Those moments will generally define a tight game - which it was, up until they scored their first (and even until the penalty). That free kick was a swift kick in the balls, I think we all knew how difficult it was going to be to get anything out of the game after that.

On a positive note, I think we played well until the penalty. We kept it tight for the most part, albeit while not at our best in the final third (to be expected, we needed a 'moment' to go our way in that regard). I think we saw enough to suggest we can beat these * at home. If we can pick up 2-3 points elsewhere, we may well have European football after Christmas.

What frustrates me is I don’t think it would’ve taken much to improve us.

We all knew what we needed. We’ve known for a couple of years.

Hilariously predictable. But oh well, look at our bank balance?

Could literally copy and paste a post from almost every other CL game we’ve competed in.

Different managers, different players, different opposition but we continually shoot ourselves in the every single time.

Right in it for 45 minutes then it falls to pieces. Self inflicted except the Lagerbielke red which was never a red.

The draw in the Lazio game probably doesn’t help us either.

Goes without saying but we need to get our best players fit and ready for Lazio at home if we want any chance of a result.

I never predicted 2 reds tbh. You should put the lottery in your good.
