I think that’s what makes our transfer window all the more depressing. This group should have given us a a great opportunity to progress. A good transfer window would have seen us in with a great chance of doing so.

Personally think we was a left back short of a good window. CCV fit and we win tonight. For all I know they've got an eye on a left back and it's not happened yet. * going for 3rd or 4th choices or we'll just end up with another bernabei

We are still very very naive. I suppose that comes with a young side but their side isn't exactly ancient either but they know how to play to the ref and the crowd etc.

I feel like as well as improving our quality on the ball we need to become more streetwise off it. Too honest.

Goalkeeper and a holding midfielder to go along with that left back. That’s what was required for us to be seriously in with a chance.

Refs have always sent players off on the advice of their linesmen if they didn't see something. That's no comment on today though...

Even with VAR? Was never a second yellow for me, extremely harsh. But I guess "clear and obvious error" doesnt cover it if the linesman thinks it's a booking.

For all we know the VAR confirmed it in his ear. They don't always go for the screen.

To the best of my knowledge a liney (or AR as they're called now) has always had the authority to advise a course of action and the ref can only overrule it if he saw the incident himself and disagreed with the AR's statement of fact.

Don't know that for certain though, so if there's a ref here who does...

At least we won the profit trophy that all that matters to the * running our club a great profit but a mediocre team for Europe.

Opportunity missed tonight 100% but look we have 2 weeks until we play lazio at home. Hopefully we have a a nice little rub if form before it with new players gelling etc and no more * injuries. Big learning curve for some of the new inexperienced lads so hopefully they come away a little wiser and improve on their performances next time they get their chance.

admittedly I’m still fairly * off that we didn’t get in the signings we needed for certain positions which would’ve helped us massively but cmere… onto the next one

Press going in hard on us but honestly don't think it was as bad as is being made out. Key moments let us down but we've seen far worse in Europe. Sadly.

Just woke up and finished reading the reports.

Doesn't appear all doom and gloom. Apparently we had a fairly decent first half, and we're later let down by inexperience and naivety.

    I'll take it lol.

Definitely preferable to waking up to maulings we've had in the past at the hands of higher quality sides, or misnomer results against sides we should be beating like Shaktar.

Was interesting reading Rodgers reaction about the transfer window and any "regrets" he might have. "Not up to me" is a very passive aggressive response imo

Worst thing is in the CL thats about as easy as it gets really. Them and Shakhtar last season were really mediocre looking teams who actually played quite poor against us and we've played 3 games against them and not won any.

Sometimes the worst team in our CL Group are Ajax, Gladbach, Shakhtar of 10 year ago, Benfica and that who are a lot better than these teams were so if we're not winning these games then who would we beat.

I just don't understand Rodgers' complaint about the transfer window. If someone knows better than us what the board is about regarding transfer business, it's him. He at least partly left us because they're tight arsed *. Did he realy came back without securities? :giggle1: Did he really not let them sign a paper of whatever guaranteeing him a proper budget to put together a CL squad? Then he's an absolute idiot :giggle1:

Therefore, for me he is heavily responsible for the transfer window. But aye, we all know the structural problem here is the cheap board and as long as they're here we will see no European ambitions.

Nonetheless, considering all the factors given we did well tonight and were a bit unlucky. The other teams are decent but if we get our * and learn how to pass, we might still have a chance to get at least i tl the EL after Christmas.
