Feyenoord up to 2nd in their league after a 6-1 victory over Heerenveen so it's going to be tough as * to get a result over there.

'Tough as f*ck' is an understatement. 19 goals in their first 5 Eredivisie games - 17 of which have come in the last 3.

And while Santiago Gimenez has scored 6 of those, there have already had 11 different scorers, which means they pose a threat across the entire pitch.

If there is a glimmer, it is that they have not kept a clean sheet since the opening day 0-0, but as Celtic have not beaten any Dutch oppostiion away from home since August 2001 highlights just how tough this is going to be when we are at full strength, nevermind still trying to find outr groove in this new BR era and a whole raft of players still trying to be integrated as well as a long injury list, it's a big ask.

Yeah. 'Tough as f*ck' is an understatement.

Maeda has to go left for me as Taylor will need all the support he can get..

Palma on the right for me, although I know he's probably better on the left but Johnston overlapping and Palma's quality on the ball coming inside should work..

I think they seem to be on a similar level to PSV, who utterly dismantled Rangers. With where we currently are this season, I don't even think I'll watch this TBH. It's going to be a sore one but we need to learn from it.

The positive aspects are that at least it's away (the key games are our home games) and that we will get much better as players come back and new players settle in. Whether we get better fast enough to be competitive in our home games against them and Lazio, I don't know.

Quite a lot of negativity here..

I think we may sneak a result but will settle for a good performance..

I don't know about anyone else's reasons, but I just got sick of almost always losing and quite often getting a real hiding in the CL for a decade now. There comes a point when you refuse to get your hopes up anymore. If we get something, it will be a nice surprise.

For me, the CL is broken. Partly, it's UEFA's greed; but partly is just plain stupidity. UEFA are like a cook who adds a bit of chilli, finds it makes the food tastier and so adds the rest of the jar and makes the dish inedible.

This summer took us back to square one, we have an injury crisis at centre half and Feyenoord are an excellent side that are scoring 5 and 6 goals a game for fun.

For us to even take a point over there would be one of the best results in our recent history.

Why? They seem to be a similar standard to PSV and frankly we're a similar standard to Rangers right now in the middle of September. That suggests a long night. Yes, I think we will be a much better team than Rangers once we get everyone available and things start clicking, perhaps we will be able to give Feyenoord a tight game at home if we start playing well by then. But right now? I don't see it.

What I mean, there shouldn't be a gulf between the sides, like there is with some of the CL sides, we should be able to compete with the Dutch, Belgian, Portuguese teams etc.. we'll need an amazing performance and a bit of luck, but I'm not writing us off..

TBF, I was utterly sure we'd get humped at Ibrox.

I hope Kyogo can get his first CL goal, but it's not going to be easy.

Anything there would be a bonus, but getting out of there with a draw, and no injuries for Livi, would be all I can hope for. Not confident though.

We will go one up and concede about 3 in the 10 mins after as usual.

On a serious note reckon we will pump them.

I hope we play 3 at the back.

    Hart
    Lagerbielke Phillips Scales
    Johnston O'Riley McGregor Taylor
    Hatate
    Kyogo Maeda
Think that would suit us, gives Taylor more protection, more solid in midfield and Kyogo and Maeda should get chances with Hatate playing behind them. Johnston freed up to run down the right and Maeda down the left, Lagerbielke with long diagnoals to Maeda.

With them starting the season well, scoring for fun having won their League they'll probably play quite open and attacking and this would suit countering them.
