Awwwww sean, I expected better of you mate!

Blaming the board seems to be built into the Celtic support.

Any grudges anyone held against this man, surely can't be upheld with our club in the present set of circumstances. Our club is totally financially safe, and that's because this one man took over when we were on the brink, gave us the stadium that is Paradise, gave us a future basically, and did all this whilst finding cash to bring the likes of Lambert and Larsson to Celtic Park. Totally want to see this legend unfurling the league flag at Parkhead when we win the title. His efforts on behalf of the club have left us all in his debt. Thank you Fergus!! Hail hail!!

I was at that game when people boo'ed him and was so angry. He saved our club. I'd erect a statue of him outside Paradise, as I think, in his own way, he's as important in Celtic's history as Bro Walfrid, Jock Stein, Billy McNeil etc.

think the boos were frustration of knowing our title party was tainted with the news that jansen was leaving due to an unhappy relationship with our ceo at the time and he was not being backed by fergus .

Fair play to The Bunnet Celtic Legend!

Plus if memory serves me right Elspeth was definitely fuckable!

I was just born when Fergus came on the scene but obviously know all about the man now. With some of the things he done, and tried to implement, he wouldn't have exactly have been popular with me but at the end of the day he was the savior of Celtic. Appreciate that immensely because we could have easily ended up with a conman like Whyte.

McCann was like ronseal - does exactly what it says on the tin.

Brian Quinn is the guy who told us to keep well clear of EBT's so we've got a lot to be grateful for there as well otherwise we'd maybe be in a similar position to that lot which is unthinkable. Celtic in administration, or perhaps no Celtic at all does not bare thinking about, those 2 guys are part of the reason why their nightmare will never be our reality. Of course that means we can.......

There is a difference in what Celtic had to deal with and what the huns are getting just now .

Celtic were not getting offered Admin or anything ,they were all clamoring to * Celtic right out asap ,Where's the huns have this ongoing with the taxman ,The Banks back then were not mucking about with Celtic over 7million pounds until Fergus arrived and upset a lot of people by keeping the Bhoys in business .

Aye I know KD - we were heading for liquidation in '94 - in regards to administration that comment was aimed more at Brian Quinn and his decision to ditch the EBT's.

    Singing I'm no a billy, am a Tim, thank *! :celt_2:

Why not start a Fergus McCann Trophy...

maybe a pre- season tournament that could generate money for a club in difficulty.. this would allow the tournament to be held anywhere in the world.

i have never criticized the man but never fully appreciated what he done for Celtic until fairly recently.. guess we can't all be gifted with foresight.

Fergus -- THE MAN --- McCann

thank you from the bottom of my heart

when you look back on it you can see why fans were frustrated but looking back now you can see the big picture that fans maybe didn't understand at the time, it will be the same with the current board but obviously not to the same extent because we were never near death

    I'm not picky.
See I think this is it. At the time people were frustrated because we were wanting to stop Hun FC from winning (which is what we done when they were going for their ::::shudders at the thought:::: 10th in a row) and I think it was impatience because we were getting sick of seeing those * "win" everything.

We were wanting a team to match and obviously beat them but McCann and the board were setting the path for the club to be more financially secure first before having the success on the field. Once we were secure then it was down to the job of getting the team.

To me if McCann looked at doing what Scum FC done by getting the players first without thinking about the financial security we would be where those * are now and thankfully it US that are now pointing and laughing at those * now they are on their knees :56:

Short term they were better but only because they were buying the wins. Long term, well, look who's having the last laugh now :50:

I once asked my Da who was the man in the cap when we watched a celtic history video he replied "the man who saved Celtic" and from that day I have always respected him

Although I was frustrated with the team at the time, I was embarrassed by the booing he got. As has been said by many other posters, he saved our club and set it on the road to the financial stability we enjoy today.

As a wee aside, The Bunnett could do me a favour. You see I remember during the Huns 9IAR run that more than one friend assured me that we would never win anything. Ever. Such was Rangers' superiority. I vividly recall one mate, not even a Hun, howling "YOU WILL NEVER WIN ANYTHING" at me.

So Fergus, could you apologise to the boy for making him look like a total *?!?!

Long live the Bunnett. A statue is well in order.

Now if someone can contact the club and ask if all the players could walk on to the field this weekend wearing bunnets in tribute.....
