My favourite hun would have to be Jan Bartram. He played for the huns in the late 80's. He scored against The Hoops in a 2-1 win for Celtic at Ibrox with Paul McStay and Andy Walker the scorers for us.

The reason I like him is, he came out in the papers the very next day after the match and told everyone that Greame Souness told his players to kick and SPIT at the Celtic players and showed them * to be the shameful scumbags that they are.

    Well done Jan...respect!

Were you wearing anything that may have identified yourself as a tim mate? I'm just asking but have you ever wondered if Cooper would have let the security drag you away if he knew you were a hoops fan lol?
I'm sure the outcome would have been the same but you do wonder lol.

I remember back in the 80's during a Celtic v huns reserve match at Parkhead (VERY popular fixtures and attracted large attendences).
Cooper was taking a bit of stick from the Celtic fans because he was putting in a few heavy challenges.
During the match the ball went out for a throw in to the huns right infront of the Main Stand and Cooper went to retrieve the ball.
He got the ball, blatantly turned to the jeering fans and stuck up his middle finger, then proceeded to take the throw in lol.

But in those days you gave the players stick and they done things to get back at you. Thats just the way it was and everyone accepted that.
Now you cant even run towards the opponents fans to celebrate a goal (Craig Bellamy at Ibrox?)

Could never possibly call them a favourite as i will never have good feeling toward them while they play for them. So it's ppl i have respect for really. I actually think, of the ones that have been mentioned, i think the Numan and Gio were sound enough like.

Always thought Buffel was a cracking player and could have done a bit better while he was there. Could play at a higher level than in the belgian league- but then again i aint seen him play in a while- could be his level. A always thought Burke was a cracking player as well- currently setting the championship alight with good form.

I have to be careful here- i am merely pointing out a couple of noteworthy ranks that i have respect for and admired at times on the football pitch. Have respect for any gent. But am not lickin their arses btw. lol

Wouldn't go as far as sayin I have a favourite one but tbh the ones I have met have been good guys.

Met Artur Numan on a night out and had a good wee chat, he enjoyed the banter. Met McCoist and he was a good laugh.

Went to a guest speaker night when Derek Ferguson (Barrys older brother for younger viewers) was there and he was absolute top class, stood and had a pint, talking to me and 8 or 9 other boys (all Celtic fans) about football for about an hour afterward, really down to earth guy, even told me the truth about the 'kebab-shop story'.

Older members will remember it :icon_mrgreen:

Why are we giving valuable space to this 'favourite hun' crap? Have we run out of Celtic threads so much that we feel the need to praise this shower? I'm afraid the word 'favourite' just doesn't have the same feel when used to describe this lot past and present.

None to be honest. There are Rangers players that I admired/feared as players but didn't like them.

Wouldn't say I could let myself have a "favourite" but there were certainly those that you couldn't help but have a respect for. You can't say Laudrup wasn't one of the best you've seen play in Scotland.

They aren't all a Goram or a Gazza, some do deserve a great deal of respect. Mostly from the old days, though.

Just because they play for Rangers doesn't make them bad! It's their beliefs etc. that make them a bad person, such as Di Canio for Celtic still being a fascist, and Goram being a complete c*nt. As mentioned, McCoist seemed like a decent guy on Question of Sport and peoples storeys on this thread and other times i've heard Celtic fans talk about him he seems like a top bloke

When Raith beat us on penalties in the coca cola cup final at greyskull, McCoist left the stand uttering "Serves the * * right" as he passed a steward mate of mines........nice guy eh? I'm just glad I've no misplaced conceptions of the guy.

I say serves the dirty hun * right at times and things to that affect but I wouldn't have said I was a bad person for it. People have to realise its a football rivalry, other clubs have it aswell.
